Messing with Luke Snyder and Reid Oliver. Part 2

"Bob, I would like to give nurse Stewart a chance to demonstrate her abilities. She seems quite clever. Means, I want her to become my special assistant in the operating room."

"Brilliant idea, Reid!"

So it came, that Alison Stewart learned as much as never before - professionally and personally. She learned how to live with less than 6 hours of sleep a night, she learned how to stand hours and hours in the operating room, assisting her new 'chief', she learned that Reid Oliver was a totally different person, when it came to his patients, when he talked to them, calmed them - day and night she was witnessing "how to treat a patient's fears and concerns professionally!".

The nth night her beeper went off Casey Hughes promised to have a talk with Dr. Ass Oliver.

"No, Casey, that's the chance of my life, to learn and to whitewash my reputation. You do know, it was your granddad's idea and my mum is thrilled about it, too - there is no way, I could bail out."

When it came to medicine and professionalism Reid was definitely a hard liner, so you could say Ali Stewart had the toughest time of her life, yet she was just speechless, when Reid told her at Casey's and her engagement-party at the Metro - in front of Bob and Kim Hughes, Casey, Luke, the Snyder's and Noah: "You're really good at your job, Ali. I take my hat off to you!"

Noah was speechless, too, Luke was smitten - again - to be smitten by Reid seemed to become his new hobby - and Ali smiled - an open, honest smile - maybe it was the first time, Reid saw a genuine smile on her face and he smiled back - almost honestly, too.
The night went on and Noah watched his nemesis all the time.
It was just the moment Luke had kissed Reid lightly on his mouth, squeezed his hand, patted his back, played with the curls reaching his collar and laid his hand on his thigh for an unbearable 1000th time and was now snuggling his face up to Reid's neck, when Noah suddenly realized, that Reid watched him back, without blinking. Reid's blue eyes were examining him with interest and kind of some researcher's perspective - as if Noah was fixated on a slide and Reid was adjusting the microscope.
Noah tried to stand up to that challenging blue glare, when the corners of Reid's mouth almost imperceptibly lifted up into a small smile - applied only for Noah.
The message was clear and surprisingly enough Noah Mayer got it:

To mess with Luke when it came to his happy new lovelife and to outsmart Reid Oliver when it came to dirty tricks was something Noah hasn't in himself.

Oh that's awesome! Noah will never beat Reid. Glad Ali came to her senses and turned out to be a good professional ally for Reid. :)

Reid is far to observant to be taken by Ali. He was smart to turn the tables to make it Ali's advantage rather than throw a fit and get her fired for incompetence. Noah just needs to find a new hobby.

Loved Reid's triumph over Noah and that it was actually done in a way that resulted in something good like Ali becoming a better nurse [even if I'm not an Ali fan]. Great job.

Ha! Take that, Noah! No one's going to outsmart Reid. Well, except maybe Bob sometimes. ;)

And I really, really liked this description:
