Sorry about your crappy week! :(

But heh, looks like nobody really wants to write about Noah (or maybe everyone is off re-reading cherimola's "First Love" ;)). But just so you know, it's totally fine to write about how Luke is Reid's first love. I mean, just imagine Luke's blinding smile when he hears that. :)

I'm kind of torn on whether Reid's never been in love or has just been burnt badly, but I'm working on a little college!backstory!Reid thingy for this prompt...only I'm going out of town and need sleep so it'll probably never get posted, whoops.

I'm not crancky (at least I don't think I am right now) but I totally agree. I don't see Reid being in love before Luke. He was too "blown away" on the show to have ever experienced something like that before (imo) If I like the writer, I'm willing to 'go there', but it does feel AU to me too. Nothing wrong with that, of course.

Well, I guess 99% of post-canon LuRe fic is technically AU anyway, so... ;) - but I see what you're saying. For me, I've noticed that it's not so much about the scenarios, but more about the quality of the writing and characterization overall. E.g. angel!Reid jumped into my top 5 LuRe fics without any advance warning whatsoever, so if it's done well, like with the story explaining how Reid became all jaded and down on love because of that experience, I can see Reid with a serious boyfriend too.

I totally see the appeal of Reid never having been in love before, though. It's like straight out of a romance novel. :) The only problem I have with it is the hypocrisy of this fandom damning the writers and Nukies for wanting to keep Luke "pure" for Noah, but then basically wanting the same thing for Reid, you know? Neither seems very realistic to me, but then it was ATWT, so... (and I think fanfic!Reid and ATWT!Reid tend to drift further apart as time goes on and people stop rewatching so much anyway, so who really knows what's IC anymore

I'll write something later, I promise. Was swamped at work this week and I couldn't write then. Going to movies right now but I'll be back--and it won't be all about Noah. :)

Maybe someone will write a ficlet about Ethan or Natalie or a future Snoliver offspring introducing their first love to Luke and Reid?

Or a ficlet where Lily is trying to bond with Reid and recounts to him how she met a hot young stableboy when she was a teen and was overcome with lust for him? Reid could be really freaked out by Lily sharing TMI.
