"Reid, what do you want me to say?"
"That that's true..."
Reid looked like an anxious, timid boy, torn between letting himself hope a bit and fearing to get punched again, emotionally punched this time.
Suddenly Luke actually saw behind the facade Reid normally had put on. There it was again the vulnerable man, showing so much more affection than intended.
Luke could read between lines, he was a writer at least. But until now he had refused to look at what was written there, between all that what Reid said and didn't say.
"Don't reject me again, don't hurt me further. I've enough."
Luke practically heard him pleading and unconsciously leaned into Reid's caressing hand.
This hand - smooth, soft, tenderly waiting for Luke's cheek to nestle into it.
Luke knew, Reid's hands were strong, capable, magical, healing hands, when it came to Reid's patients.
Reid's hands - when it came to Luke they were mostly revealing Reid's tender and vulnerable side.
He could trust them, he could trust Reid and therefore he closed his eyes and gave himself into Reid's waiting arms and waiting lips.
He carefully responded to the lightest pressure Reid's lips were putting on Luke's.
Oh God, Reid's nose must be hurting like hell, so he had to be very careful. Then he realized Reid's heart was probably hurting more and the only way to take care of that was leaning closer into Reid's arms, opening his mouth to cautiously welcome Reid's tongue.
"Finally, finally!"
Reid had long forgotten his bruised nose and clung to Luke, eager to get more intimacy and closeness. Kissing Luke and being kissed by Luke was the best possible medicine at all.
They didn't even hear Bob's interruption, concentrated on what really mattered, they simply ignored him.
Bob would later approach Luke and try to interrogate him but Luke would only wave his hand and answer: "Bob between Reid and me is something happening what is so much more important than Mona Cross. I'll retire from the board and than Reid and I can make out whenever and wherever we want to. Deal with it or leave it. We don't care!"
