onvocation/EA concert taken from my fb

I wasnt going to write about my experience at Con this year, due to the bizarre experience that it was, But since I recieved so many questions I have decided to write a brief overview, this time leaving out the personal revelations I experienced (im open to private conversation however) As well as all the akwardness and irritation.
On Wednesday night, the 3 of us packed Kerrys truck and headed to our new locale: The Doubletree in Detroit. (The time had come for us to upgrade) Due to my classes and Anth lab, we were late. Since Im always the only one there that cant eat the dinner,I dont feel too badly about missing the meeting and not being in close quarters with everyone eating. We didnt make it to the hot tub(unfortunately, I didnt make it to the gym all weekend either :( )
We kind of just hung out in the room for the night.
Thursday was pretty exciting, as a large group of us attended the Emilie Autumn concert at the Crowfoot! :) I missed the opening ceremony but seeing as it was in a wide open space platformed, I probably would not have went anyhow. Helped set up hospitality and then signed Nickie up for her first year at Con!Then off to get ready for EA! Make-up, hair, corsets then a few badly lit photos before going off to the Crowfoot to meet everyone else! I wasnt able to do my hair the way I wanted(couldnt get the extensions) I also didnt do the fauxhawk because it was supposed to snow a terrible lot. There were ...complications, but all in all EA was amazing, as usual! More pics will be up soon. My only complaint really besides some of the show seemed to be a clipped version of the opheliac show, was she did not play any of her instrumental songs, that about killed me because to be quite honest : thats what I go to see above all else. I go to see EA be the amazing musician she is and play her violin. The snow didnt hit till after the concert, which made the drive back to the hotel interesting. We made it back too late for dinner, drumming, hottub or much of anything really.
The rest of the weekend was a flurry the hospitality room, classes and sleep. They apparantly put chemicals in the hottub before we got there on Friday So lots of itchy skin as a consequence :/
I attended Andrieh Vitimus's Shapeshifting 101 (first half) He had control of his class (i hate it when you have limited time and some people have to break things rededately to show how smart they are, or to say "witty" things as if it is only thier time) and comes from a deeply rooted place, I believe. He was also there to talk to me later about something important on his own time. After wards most of the rest of my night was spent in hospitality, Then I opened the next morning. I like that the hospitality room is alot smaller this time around. I dont feel like a waitress or bartender constantly wiping things up after 20- 30people who dont appreciate your effort. we were able to get them in and out and maintain some semblance of order. I was back and forth a bit on Sat. but managed to make it to the 2nd half of Andrieh's Shapeshifting workshop. Nickie came with me this time. Despite the idiot yelling outside the door, It was a pretty good session Although there was alot of needless talking from the attendees. The yelling threw a few people out of thier experience. Thankfully, I was not one of them.
I actually managed to attend two classes on Sat. the other class and the highlight of my weekend was Jason Mankey's Mechanics of drawing down Deity. I said it in his blog, and I'll say it here. He added beauty and grace to what these days sadly is just glossed over or not even experienced at all. Thankyou for your passion Jason! :) It was felt. I did not feel the least bit badly about having to climb on a counter to sit. We also hit the merchants room. we bought a book on the FUTHARK for a mutual penpal, but strangely I didnt buy myself any books, or much of anything else for that matter. I saw some striped socks, and a wonderful statue, but didnt buy them. I didnt even buy a corset this year like I usually do.I did however buy my yearly kitty and bunny crack from Lucille at Lotions, Potions and Notions. Nickie was kind enough to buy an artemis cameo for Autumn, my daughter. She also bought a ton of raffle tickets (i missed buying more due to a class I was attending) So we went to the Tempest Smith raffle. Kerry surprisingly didnt win anything this year. I won a beaded heart necklace and bracelet set for my daughter. And Nickie won the doll and horse made by Oberon "riding the tempest" its lovely, and full of painstaking detail. the boots alone are stitched by hand, and you can feel the love emanating from it. I also attended a drawing down ritual that I was pretty unhappy with for ethical reasons I will not discuss here. Nickie and I went back and forth from the ball to the estatic drumming. Afterwards there were a couple room parties and then bed so I could help pack and inventory hospitality.

Viki Vaughn I suppose this could be a bit more coherent

Jason Mankey I though it was pretty coherent, and thanks for the compliments on the workshop. I've been surprised by the amount of positive feedback I've gotten about it.

Viki Vaughn I guess im just frustrated, as I dont like anything I write recently. Even something simple like this seems terrible.

Viki Vaughn Your very welcome :-). every thing I said was true. Maybe your workshop spoke to me on such a level because it is about something so vital and so deep. I also enjoyed that you shared some of your own experiences.
