I hope everyone in my area enjoyed the rain as much as I yesterday :)
I missed the actual storm part due to being in class but I was able to enjoy a nice shower and walk through clean warm puddles :) It was just what I needed almost a rejuvination of sorts :) Afterwards club meeting. We decided were probably going to do the shopping cart race at Dixie Motor speedway and decided on our First fieldtrip :) .goin to Cranbrook.
STONE STREET
I would recommend to anyone even remotely interested to go. A great group of people Beverly the expert is really cool as well. I met some really interesting people.I got to sift with the "lithics guy" as I call him.Learned a few interesting things. And we found some chert :) I also got the opportunity to speak with OJ who seems to be a native american hero of sorts. He lived in Canada before Princess Di died , when she had that .anti land mine campaign. I was young so I vaguely remember Canada was the first to jump on the bandwagon. They were pretending to be the innovator in human rights issues all the while planting landmines outside and on a native reservation. They had lived there for years and were apparantly sitting on something very valuable.Eventually, The canadian government got together a SWAT team and were headed out there. Somehow (he didnt tell me) they found out, armed themselves and reopened the old warriors code. They had a shootout with the canadian govt. for like 3 months. They didnt realize who he was when they captured him finally (a very big "instigator")so they put him in jail instead of killing him. Years later when he got out on work release, he realized he'd never get treated fairly so "under the cover of the night" he ran to the U.S. and hid here 4 a bit. Then he started talking. When they could'nt stonewall him, the tried to extradite him. He won the fight and became the first Native American to be offered political asylum in the U.S.
pretty cool. I,ve found things at varyingdegrees on the valuaAboble scale. A 1941 wheat penny., bird and sawed food bones, skull fragments, burned bones, alot of trash a few true fossils :),various skull and other bone sherds and the very first bones of a chiild! A radius of an individual approximately 5 years old. man, i looked for that growth plate (and anything else) all day!!And tomorrow I hope to have another amazing find!!! :)
Enjoy the beautiful day everyone!!
