Oh, no. This isn't very good.

This isn't very good at all, I don't think.

And with only a couple of days. More than an inconvenience, really, but as disturbing as those problems may be, my own problems can't even be the worst of it.

Not good.

I'm- I'm trying to go through his notes, but they're difficult.

It won't work in time for this cycle, will it?

Regulus isn't a very good hand at potions either, is he?

Two days? Not unless you've got a miracle hiding up your shirtsleeve.

No, he's- well, between him and Neville, I'm honestly not sure who're fare better.

The potion might take longer for me to master, but I'll- I'll try. I'm sorry, Remus, I'm truly sorry.

Perhaps I'll search around the store a bit longer... surely he must have left some stores of it around.

If I recall, I was once informed (and somewhat disapproved of) the fact that you managed a Polyjuice Potion in your second year. I honestly don't think it's beyond you, although the both of us are aware that I think you're particularly talented.

This shouldn't be your responsibility, though.

...yes, I managed to brew Polyjuice Potion in my second year, this is true. I suppose that I've just been a little hesitant after sixth year. There's no real need for subtlety, is there?

Don't talk nonsense. You're a friend. That, in itself, makes this a responsibility I want to shoulder. But I think you ought to come along, a second pair of eyes to make sure I don't lose track of my steps. Did you ever watch Severus brew the potion?

I just never like to admit that I've gossiped about my old students.

I would gladly help you look, but no, I've never watched. A handful of the ingredients I'm sure would be nasty for me to be around before they're prepared. Poisonous before they're cooked or the like.

And yet, you never know what type of gossip might just come in handy. I don't mind.

...never mind, then. I'm sure I could ask Ron.

I'm a pain. I'm sorry, Hermione.

...I know that it's that time, Remus, but please don't speak as though my efforts aren't worth it, it's awful for the morale.

There are other preparations that we should make as well, you realize.

You're absolutely right, Hermione Granger. Well.

You're in charge, then.

...you're utterly impossible.

Remind me again of what Sirius and the others managed?

I'll be sending Crookshanks along shortly.

Well, I'm sure you know well by now that werewolves aren't particularly natural. They will only attack humans, and have no desire or interest in harming other animals, whether to bite or to consume. They told me they knew the truth only after becoming Animagi themselves, and after that point, James and Sirius were large enough to distract my attention. They would sneak me out at times, so that I wouldn't be so anxious and chew at myself and dig. We would run on the grounds.

Absolutely irresponsible. Somebody could have been hurt. Dumbledore ought to hate me, I'm sure he knows.

Yes, that much I read, but I'm still concerned about the idea of having you wander. Crookshanks, after all, is only so large, if size was really what could serve as a distraction, and the City's rather populated. Even in the forest. I'm considering setting up a room, and I'll try to include whatever comforts is feasible, but.

If you ask me, Dumbledore should have watched over you personally. Should have watched over the entrance to the Shrieking Shack personally. None of it's your fault, and certainly you don't deserve any amount of ire over it.

I don't want to wander anywhere, I ensure you most emphatically. Put me in shackles if you're willing. I don't know what I would do if I laid a single finger on any one of you.

He had a school to attend to, and a political climate to watch over. He was always far too important and powerful a man to directly supervise one single student.

I am not putting you in shackles, Remus Lupin. I absolutely refuse to. We'll be adding a room to the cabin, and you'll help me add whatever you see fit, and fortify the wards around the place. Ginny and Luna will be elsewhere. Ron too, if I can manage.

Then he could've sent someone else to guard for him. Someone to keep other students from sneaking inside. But I suppose that's all said and done already.

I will not put you or anyone else out of the comfort of your own home over me. Put me somewhere else for the night.

I never discouraged them.
