Eleven Phases

That was a terrible time to end up ill. Sorry for skipping you by yesterday, Ron, it's just that I was in a bad spot again. Anyone else as well, who's been trying to reach me. I've been out of it until just now.

So, what did I miss?

And what is that awful smell been?

do not want, confused wizard is confused, full moon is full, hairy little problem, zombies say what, late to the party, help!, werewolf is a werewolf, what in merlin's name, needs moar chocolate, slightly underwhelmed

Is everything alright?

... I thought I noticed something odd around the City the other day. I just put it off as general oddness, though-isn't it?

Not as good as I would hope it to be, but better than it could be.

The living dead, Severus tells me.

Inferi?

Not quite. They're not re-animated corpses-- that is to say, they're still living people, only not. They've got souls in them.

It makes things a bit more difficult. We can't just burn them all. They're people, just cursed.

That means they're a lot sturdier than Inferi; bits won't be falling off or slowing them down. And they'll be going for people just the same.

Still, I would ask you, for certain reasons, if you do decide that you absolutely must go out there and wave a wand around, Ginny-- immobilize, don't kill.

Are you well other than all of this business?

I don't kill. Not unless I have to-and things haven't come to that yet. Not at home and definitely not here.

I'm getting my bearings. Which, by the way, is a little difficult to do when you've got the undead crawling the streets. And this is normal?

I can't say the same, but I will agree that things certainly haven't come to that yet.

This is not normal, but normal isn't particularly safe here, either. Still, by general measure, this place is not much stranger than your typical all-magic settlement.

... Merlin, I completely forgot to ask. When are you from, sir?

I guessed as much. Apparently there's no need for magical secrecy.

I hear they've been preparing for the Triwizard Tournament, although I've been keeping my head very much down. I further hear that this makes me somewhat chronologically disadvantaged among all the rest of you.

No need for secrecy about much, although some of us still do prefer a bit of polite discretion.

Bloody hell. You don't even know Tonks, do you? Er, that's one way to put it.

Of course. But maybe now isn't the best time to be discreet when it comes to the safety of others.

thx for that fail lj lupusnonfacit December 14 2008, 05:42:20 UTC
Not heard much good news, though. Not heard much news at all.

I would never suggest that you would be. It's a good time to push one's limits, actually.

i saw no such fail. 8) 7thborn December 14 2008, 05:49:15 UTC
We were quite shut out from news, too. But from what we did manage to hear on the wireless, none of it was any good.

A Gryffindor might take that as encouragement to do something rash.

what fail :D lupusnonfacit December 14 2008, 05:56:53 UTC
I'm very sorry to hear that. Hopefully you can view time here as a small bit of respite, then.

I would never ask you to do something that would disrespect your parents' care for you, but I might, perhaps, encourage you to do something with a little bit of discerning bravado if necessary.

I'm trying to. It's hard, with Inferi look-alikes running around.

If my parents knew exactly what I was doing back home... Of course not. But my parents, Mum especially, can get suffocatingly overprotective over nothing.

This too shall pass, they say.

Yes, I know all about your Mum. Although suffice it to say she is one of my very favorite people. Just slightly high-strung.
