Sitsit and small talk

Once you get used to using custom friends groups, the habit sticks. So now I've created lists of my FB 'friends'. I tried to keep things simple and thus created only seven lists. (I have nearly 20 custom friends lists on LJ. I actively use only a couple of them, but it makes no sense to delete the old ones.) Anyway, I created the lists on FB so that I could enable the chat feature and restrict who sees me online using those lists.

This week has involved a lot of singing so far. I was at my first "sitsit" yesterday. I figured that I should go to at least one during my Uni years. It was basically a student dinner party which lasted about four hours and you barely had enough time to eat a three course meal because there was so much singing, and toasting after and in between the singing. It was a fun experience to share with friends. The noise level was quite something and I felt like I had been hit on the head with a plank for hours after I got home that night, from feeling so overwhelmed.

There was a bit of small talk, that I'm dreading at the moment, but not too much. I'll have to brace myself for some more small talk later this week when I'm meeting some relatives. Would you believe that I've actually gotten pretty good at fibbing up something when I don't want to talk about something in my life. Asquintanses aren't even interesting in the truth when they're doing small talk with you. It's just something to fill the air with. It doesn't matter. I'm usually not in the mood to explain my study plans to half-strangers, so I usually just say what my official major is when asked, even though I haven't studied anything related to that in years. It's not an outright lie, but it's not completely truthful either. I'm honest with my friends and others who are close to me. They deserve that. I don't care about the rest of the population so much.

Honesty is easier. I've also never seen any sense in lying on my journal. I just leave out things that I don't want to talk about. Very simple.
