There's enough snow outside that I thought that I'd post some Summer photos. :p I've been meaning to post some of the
vegetable patch that I formed last Summer. I remembered it again today when I put the herbs that I had dried from the garden into jars. The smells were heavenly. I mean, it's not as potent as smelling fresh herbs, but I could identify the dried herbs by smell.
Tikru lounging on a rock. There are tomatoes growing in the flower pot. I had two pots full of tomato plants in total.
I got this wooden box where I grew two types of leafy salad and some herbs: basil, anise-basil, Greek oregano, thyme (timjami), sage (salvia), lemon balm (sitruunamelissa), dill (tilli), parsley (persilja) and chives (ruohosipuli).
There's a yellow zucchini plant growing in the foreground, the herbs and salads in the box and the "avomaankurkku", a type of cucumber, behind them. There's also a young cherry tree on the right. I also "planted" the stone paths that you see in the photo last Summer.
I had no idea that the zucchini would grow up to be so big. It got so huge that it covered the path. The cucumber plant did the same thing to a degree.
Some of the zucchinis got even bigger than this one. And there were so many of them that I had trouble coming up with zucchini dishes. I've still got one of the biggest ones in the fridge. It doesn't look like it's gone bad, which is weird.
This is a sign of a really fresh vegetable (zucchini in this case). When you cut the vegetable, moisture beads on the surface of the cut almost immediately.
My tomatoes. I had to pick them while they were still green because the nights were getting colder and I didn't want them to freeze. My mother assured me that they'd turn red (or oranges in the case of the cherry tomatoes), and they did turn color. They were very tasty.
Unfortunately I didn't think to take any photos of the avomaankurkkus (the cucumbers) when they were ready. There were so many of them that it didn't feel like a pressing matter, and then it was suddenly Fall and I realized that I had forgotten to take the photo. ^^; I'll take one next Summer. :pI just realized that lectures start again next week. I kinda thought that there would be another week of vacation. Well, it's a good thing that I checked. Time sure has gone by fast. I've been doing some Wintery stuff over the vacation. I went skiing after Christmas and me and MM went hiking with snow shoes before New Years. That was loads of fun BTW. We also started to build a snow castle/cave on this big pile of snow on our backyard that we had shoveled down from the roof.We changed my computer case yesterday with Orasi and now the sounds don't work for some reason. We didn't change any of the hardware, except for the DVD drives, so it can't be that. Maybe there's a problem with some wire. I can't be bothered to open up the case to take a look inside today. I also had a short and bloody battle with my computer's video card, a battle which I lost, but I got away with just a few bandaids on my fingers, so it's not that bad. Computer hardware can be quite vicious so watch out.
