Last week was pretty bad as a whole, so lets talk about the few things that were good. I had the first rehearsal with my new choir last week and it was awesome. Singing with the others felt so good and I enjoyed it a lot. The attmosphere at the choir was also really good and the energy level was very positive and relaxed. People are there to have fun and make music together. The conductor who is an old friend/asquintace also gave me a warm welcome. I think that the choir practice might become the high point of my weeks. It's certainly something to look forward to. ^^I'm writing my Bachelor's thesis this school year (I can never remember, if semester refers to the whole year or just half a year). I hadn't had a clue of what I would write it about, I mean, I could think of several things that I could write about it, if I was doing it for sociology or gender studies (which changed it's name from women's studies to gender studies). But the thesis has to have something to do with Japan, that much I'm pretty sure of even if I know very little about what sort of things you can write your thesis about in our major. I'm rampling... I was looking through some old notebooks last week on one night and thinking about what advanced courses I've taken that had to do with Japanese culture and I could only recall two or three. (That's very little BTW, but it doesn't matter since I'm not doing my masters in East-Asian studies.) Anyway, I then tried to recall, if there had been any subject that I'd found interesting in those courses and I could think of one that I'd like to learn more about. So if I can't come up with anything better, I can do my thesis about that. I don't feel quite so concerned now that I have that option to fall back on.
I did a personal study plan before lectures started this Fall, filling out a graph with all the courses that I've taken so far and all the courses that I still need to take to complete my Bachelor's degree. I've had to do it once or twice before now, but this was the first time that it was actually useful for me. I'm not actually missing all that many courses (Japanese courses and the thesis being the biggest ones). Just some courses here and there. If I pushed myself I could get everything done by next Summer, but I see no reason to aim for that. It's not like I'm going to be done with Uni after that. :p I was also surprised at how many "extra" courses I have that won't fit into my bachelor's degree, even with the space allotted to random extra courses. I'd still study more courses that I find interesting, rather than concentrate solely on studying courses that I need for my degree. So I was thinking of doing all the necessary courses in about a year and a half and studying other courses that I find interesting on the side, if I feel like it. (Not that I'm saying that all the necessary courses are uninteresting, it's just that I wouldn't take most of them, if it was solely up to me.)Too tired to write more.
