Rebel Flag

How many people actually know the history behind the rebel flag? I didn't think about this until my History teacher brought it up. She said that she met a person and asked them if they knew what it meant and they replied yeah it means I am a rebel. Are some people really that ignorant? Some people even associate it with Southern Pride and being a redneck. YOu may have southern pride...hell I am a southerner but are you willing to accept what that pride is? Remember the flag goes back to the time of our four fathers. It meant all southern ideals which meant the belief in slavery and the idea that it was right. The idea of racism and the hating of immigrants and things that are not white. Which i find ironic because during the Civil War Indian slave owners and even slaves would end up fighting in the war. The flag represented an ideal of what the Confedrate States of America wanted. Do today's Americans really believe that or even know the history? Granted I know some do, ie the white supremacists of the south and maybe a few here and there away from the south. You're not a rebel you ignorant ignorant person, not unless you believe in what the Confederates believed in. Just because you are a redneck or a southerner doesn't mean you are a COnfederate. DO you really share their belief in today's society? SOme people do which is sad...I certainly hope the south shall not rise again....Tell me people who say that or wear or have the Rebel flag, do you believe in what the Confederates believe in or do you just think having a flag means "I'm a southerner and damn proud of being a redneck." I've had many friends with rebel tats and I can tell you this, they do not believe in what the Confederates believe but they are proud southerners...I feel sorry for the people that don't know...Now you know why states battle congress to change state flags...
