Getting more erratic
I seem to be having less and less to say on LJ nowadays; sorry my updates are getting slower and weirder. I'm playing a lot of Splatoon lately, mostly to try and distract myself from the utter nonsense that is work right now. Since coming back from my week off, work have managed to do at least two blatantly illegal things: dropping my basic pay to below that specified in my contract (which is from two-and-a-half years ago, and we've had at least two pay rises since then); and revealing that they've been using an unlicensed copy of the software that I use on a daily basis. My contempt for them is rising exponentially; it's at the point where if I had a better offer on the table, I'd be sticking two fingers up at them and walking out in some creatively overblown manner, accompanied by letters to the appropriate supervisory bodies and probably Richard Branson as well. As things are, I've decided to join the RMT (the larger, more powerful, more militant union) and drop TSSA (my current union, who have some good people but who've basically disappeared from Coventry station, in terms of visibility); the rep from the RMT are looking into the pay issue at the moment.
I'm getting pretty fed up with the weather we're getting at the moment, as well. This year has been bloody miserable; almost every day I've had off, it's rained constantly; and it's been pretty bad most of the time I've been working, as well. I'm looking seriously at another holiday in the next couple of months, just to get out of this oppressive-feeling state.
At least I'm having fun with Duolingo. Brushing up on my Spanish, which I haven't used in fifteen years. Any Duolinguists here, my username is DarknessFalls; add me!
