ok, a life update

Spring is finally here! DC only gets like, 2 months of nice weather a year - right at the beginning of spring and the beginning of fall.  Otherwise it's basically just summer and winter and that's it.  Bach and I bought bikes a few weeks ago and have been practicing and trying to get good.  Today we rode about 8 miles, but there were lots of hills so it was actually a pretty good workout.  I'm glad I got my bike on super duper sale because even though I keep it in our relatively secure bike room, I know DC and people steal anything that isn't nailed down, and some stuff that is.  Someone stole our neighbor's bikes out of the garage, but I could have told them not to keep them there.

A few weeks ago we went to Orlando for Goodnight's wedding.  It was very beautiful and so much fun to see everyone.  It was supposed to be an outdoor wedding but they got rained out and had to move it inside, but we were at the Ritz so it could have been worse.  Our hairstylist gave us all major prom hair, so we all looked a little ridiculous.  Goodnight and Carey were the happiest bride and groom I've ever seen, and I've been to a lot of weddings in my day.  They were just clearly very ready to be married.  It was really a wonderful thing.

My out of town travel is dying down for now.  I may try to go home in June to see my nephew (and the rest of my family) but it will depend on how crazy things are at work.  I just did my first major public event and I think it was a success, so I'm pretty proud of myself there.  It was at the National Press Club, we got over 200 people and a glowing editorial in the Sunday Washington Post, so I'd consider that not too shabby for my first time ever doing something like that.  My boss is going to let me start doing more research this summer, which is exciting.

I got food poisoning a few weeks ago.  That sucked pretty hard.  I would rank that and sun poisoning up there as the two most awful experiences of my life, health-wise.  I lost 5 pounds in a day.  I'm probably never going to eat ground turkey or roasted red peppers again.  Just typing that makes me a little queasy.

May is crazy busy.  Bach is graduating from law school, and I've got 2 more weddings before the Wedding Marathon is over.  I'm thinking of cutting off all my hair after the weddings are over.  Maybe just below the chin, a bob or something.  What do you guys think - bad idea/good idea?  My hair has been this length forever, because that's how I wanted it, but I'm starting to get bored and it doesn't really look as great as I thought it would.

I'm also starting to actually be interested in fashion (that's what dating Bach will do to a girl).  My wardrobe is pretty painful so I'm working on revamping it piece by piece, which is a slow process, but I think it will pay off in the end.  I don't have much money, so I just have to wait for sales and invest in really good versatile pieces that aren't totally boring.  Saks and Bloomingdales had like 40% off sales last week so I went a little crazy, but since this is the first month since October I haven't had to buy a $300 plane ticket to go to someone else's bridal thing I figured I could treat myself.  Not that I mind, they're my friends and I love them and blah blah but seriously, a girl needs clothes.

Bach just finished up his paper and we're going to get a late dinner now.  Bye pals.
