Actualy with the way its written I think they are more woried about another Nez Perce uprizing or a "foriegn" invaision from Utah. Besides the Canucks don't need to invade, Mexico already has that covered.

I don't know about them Canucks, they can be a crafty bunch. Heck when I was a pup they didn't let us bring CB's in the country, for fear of espionage, well that or that we could use them to organize cigarette smuggling ;)

Of course it could also be that we're from Maine, and that our state actually did declare war with the crown(england) over the boundary between Maine and New Brunswick. The boarder war lasted from 1838-1839. Of course no one died and it was just a bunch a saber rattling, but it gives us the distinction as the only individual state to declare war on a foreign power.

Well now that brings to light some interesting reading. Another chapter that was missed in the 400+ page history of the National Guard Est. 1634.

We joke about war with Canada now when the closest thing to an invasion is the occasional lost Montana hunter or lost Canadian reservist on drill. But there have been more than a few times we've come to blows. After the civil war the british chose not to spend money on modernizing the Canadian arsenal for a wile deciding the threats of war with us was past after the knock down drag out we had with ourselves.

Ok I'll read the book as long as I don't have to wear a beret, they're just to dam french. What the heck was wrong with a piss cutter any way?

I hat the black beret. We got from the SF who trained with the Brit commando's in WWII. We wear it wrong, too tight and it offers no warmth or protection from the elements. I'd rather wear the tam o'shanter of the scots regiments. Given a choice I'd wear the patrol cap or boonie everyday but its been dictated by the state the black beret is the only thing we are authorized in garison *grumbles*

I wore the piss cutter in NROTC and in Basic, loathed it both times. They aught to bring back the 50's peaked caps, hate snow/rain on the glasses.

Well one of the good things about the corps was everyone can wear the round top, not just a select few. Personally I loved our 8 point utility cover, when properly ironed and starched they just look sharp.

No I'm not a fan of the piss cutter the only thing good about it was it's easy to store in a sea bag and when you take it off you just fold it over your belt, but they do look fugly. However it's an american fugly.

I think the white kepi is pretty dam hideous but it is the trade mark of the legion, so it's all theirs and everyone knows it. I just think we should strive for an individual identity in the world not to be one of the crowd.
