lossa links

Mar 05, 2009 23:13

so. little bit of "link spam" tonight. i've come across some good links tonight that i wanna share with you, whomever you might be.

first.
have you seen this ridiculousness?
it's about "Totally Stylin' Tattoos Barbie", and how parents feel that it's going to make their children "want to expose...[their] bodies to show off tattoos"
uhmmm hello, what parent hasn't bought temporary tattoos for their kids? and if it's really that big of a deal, don't let your kid buy one.
listen, i'm 21, and when i was little, my dad bought so many temp tats for me, i can't even count them.
yes, i want real tattoos, no, they're not all gonna be in places people will see everyday, and no, that doesn't mean i'm going to flash random parts of my body to anyone and everyone who wants to see my tats. i, personally, don't think tattoos are necessarily about showing off. they should be about something (or someone) you care about so much, you want to keep part of it/them with you forever.
my mother, ever the sceptic and totally non-risk taking woman, said she'd consider getting a tattoo from Kat Von D, or someone who could ink as well as her. she and i talked about this on the way to see my grandmother one day, and she also mentioned that she'd maybe get a tattoo of our dog Cosmo's eyes, nose, and lips. (backstory: bichon frise's, Cosmo's breed, is known for being all white, with dark eyes, black noses, and black lips.)
this isn't the first time Barbie's come into controversy. anyone remember Midge, Barbie's best friend who got pregnant? she had a little snap on and off belly that concealed the baby inside. parents were in an uproar because she was a single mother OMG!
anyway, don't we have more important things to worry about nowadays?

second.
The Top Foods People Love or Hate
and since this is my LJ, i'm going to tell you what i think of each of these.
1. white chocolate: delicious. could eat it all the time.
2. cilantro: i only like this if it's in stuff.
3. eggplant: eggplant parmasean is one of my fave foods. oh! so is eggplant lasagna.
4. coconut: i'll only eat coconut if it's fresh. like, i just scraped it out of the shell fresh. i hate that white, stringy shit that comes on cookies and muffins and such.
5. tomato: this is where things become odd lol. i like tomatoes, some of the time. i really only like them in ketchup, (some) red sauces, and if they're fresh picked.
6. anchovies: they're okay. i'll eat them with salsa on crackers or tortilla chips. not something i wanna eat all the time.
7. black licorice: yummmm. good n plentys are srsly awesome. also, i agree, not a real candy. wasn't meant to be candy.
8. stinky cheeses: certain ones. i have to be real careful about the way they were aged, or else i can get real sick from my allergy to mold.
9. mayo: i'm pretty sure anyone who knows me, knows that i like mayo. and it has to be REAL mayo. Hellmann's. no damn "miracle whip" or "dressings". real, fucking, mayo, tyvm.
10. bell pepper: i'll eat these as long as they're in something, and finely diced. i'm not into strips of them in my foodstuffs.
11. beets: i'll eat them, but i think it has a lot to do with the fact that they're pickled. i'll eat just about anything pickled, cuz i love vinegar.

third.
i ordered 2 Tonner Doll Company TCF(Tonner Character Figure)s today: Harley Quinn and The Joker.

i originally had only planned on getting Harley, but...
1) Joker was on sale for over 55% off
2) Harley was on sale too, and together they were over 40% off
3) and c'mon, you can't have Harley without her "Mistah Jay" to keep her company.
Harley's 16" tall, with 15 points of articulation. she's got rooted blonde hair, a removable headpiece, gloves, and the mask. Joker's 17" tall, with 14 points of articulation. he's got rooted GREEN hair, that wicked smile (which is hand painted), and his coat-tails have wire in them so you can bend them whatever way you want! (he actually creeps me out a bit. we'll see where i put him when i get him)
they should be here by weds-thurs. i'm really excited!
Tonner Doll Company is also gonna be producing a Catwoman doll, and i think i have to get her. i LOVE her. she's my second fave character in the series, the first being Miss Quinn.

last, but not least.
ashley gave me this link earlier:
Teach Your Kids to Break the Rules
i'm seriously in love with this article. minus the sports stuff, i've been taught all of this and i use it, ESPECIALLY sneaking snacks into movie theatres. our local Cinemagic charges over $4 for a medium popcorn, and over $1.50 for a 20 oz bottled soda. yeah, no thanks.

okay, i think that's all for me tonight.
it's late, and i have to work in the morning.
