Randy Johnson would be nice as long as they get another good young arm. The Yanks don't need another 7-inning pitcher. We need a horse whose arm isn't going to fall off if he goes over the 100 pitch count, therefore sparing the bullpen of overuse.
As for Vasquez, I'm wary of giving up on him just yet too. It seemed his troubles this season were mechanical, which is always better than mental. He's young and I say keep him around as a 4th or 5th starter. Maybe Mel couldn't figure him out and another pitching coach would suit him better. I think he may have helped seal his fate by starting that 22-0 game, but all the pitchers kinda helped out on that one. Hopefully George doesn't fly off the handle this offseason and makes some smart moves. Crazier things have happened! -- Karen
if they get a young starter to go along with RJ, that would please me. don't get me wrong, i love what rj does. i just don't love the tradition of shipping off what little they have in the way of prospects for him and then thinking the problem is solved.
it kills me that people are screaming for javy's head when his first half was slightly better than johan santanas. people have such short memories. he deserves time to work whatever is going on out.
