“I’ll be waiting for you.”
The words echo, bouncing around in his head with such intent that there was no way he could forget. He wanted to be happy, to take joy in the fact that there was someone left for him, who would smile when he returned.
He wasn’t stupid. He knew deep down, that it was all lies. They didn’t need him anymore.
Still, he returned to the waiting place, patiently hoping that that special someone would come. Wesley didn’t know why he bothered. Gunn had replaced him long ago. There was no one waiting, in the end.
