Gang Shit.
Just got back from a Faculty Gang Awareness Meeting.
During this meeting I got to get a refresher on gang colors (which I knew), symbols (some I knew), abbreviations (which I learned new ones), gang initiations (which I knew of, but oh joy oh bliss we got to see actual footage), and more info on what to look for to know affiliations.
The amount of stuff that I know now from three years ago is frightening. The fact that there is still new information that is shocking is a LITTLE relieving... but still sad.
And, we just got the list of who failed classes second semester. I got an update on some other students. I now understand why the school doesn't tell us every time someone gets arrested or beat up. It is just too depressing. There has just been more and more and more depressing stuff lately. 14 year old freshman dating 18 year old gang members. Watching a student come in with his face and arms beaten to a bloody pulp...and then watching him start to wear gang colors...its just scary. Must focus on the teaching aspect.
