Post title just because I've got Better Than Ezra's "Happy Endings" stuck in my head. Again. Also it was sort of fitting.
...some days go like this: you realize that the upstairs shower's broken. Maintenance comes out and looks, says, we'll need to go in through your closet actually and cut a hole in the wall to replace the broken bit--oh wait oops we won't be able to finish for two days. Then you try to go holiday shopping. Then your car battery dies in a parking lot, in the rain, while you realize you've forgotten to eat lunch. Husband has to work despite it being a weekend, and you want to be understanding about this, really, when he doesn't answer his phone. So you smile at the AAA roadside assistance boy when he shows up to help with the car, and you make it home, and go to change and then stare at the black hole in your closet for a while.
Then you decide, okay, well, what can I do to make the end of the day a bit better for someone else? and you clean up all the shoes in the entryway that Awesome Husband always vaguely grumbles about when you forget to put them properly on the rack, and you finally get around to replacing the old bathroom towels with the fluffy new ones because you've both been saying you should for weeks. And you do the dishes because you're nearly out of spoons, and so you've got dish soap on your hands and oldies music on the radio and hair getting fluffy from the heat, and Awesome Husband walks in the door and walks over to you and hands you a peppermint mocha and a cranberry bliss bar from Starbucks because he thought about you on the way home, and the whole world feels like it's made of love.
love,
happiness,
awesome husband is awesome,
life
