Just posting three short McFassy things. One was a comment fic, two came from the Five-Sentence Fic Challenge; all have been somewhat revised, but especially the middle one, which decided it wanted to be longer...

Title: Made For Each Other (As The Stars Were Made For The Sky)

Well, that first one is sort of a microcosm of everything you could want from a loving relationship (obviously no one wants the dodgy knee, but if you did have it, what you need is a gorgeous, wonderful boyfriend to make it better and be besottedly in love with you!)

*happy expressions* That one didn't get edited much, I liked the way it came out, all in one draft! I admit I really like how, even as Michael's worriedly trying to take care of James, James is calmly reassuring him too, and totally calling him out on the internalized and undeserved guilt. And besotted Michael, using those lovely hands to give a massage, will never not be wonderful.

Oh, that epilogue, in the second one...I once again fail at writing short fic! But they did need a proper proposal moment, after all. And Michael's such a good fiance, and very good at knowing James, knowing what James needs without asking; and he doesn't mind modifying the plans slightly, because James is more important than anything else, to him. I always love those moments of unspoken mutual understanding (empathy in the original sense of the word, feeling-with), in fic, in relationships. True love. Awww. :-)

(Oh, and about James's grandmother: I have quite a lot of affection for all her little parenthetical comments! I love her first meeting Michael, and neither one of them being at all intimidated, just begrudgingly impressed, over good whisky and mutual determination to love James as he deserves.)

I'm fairly sure, with the third one, it's "dessert," not dessert...though there may be chocolate sauce involved. And it will totally mean something, because, even though they've had sex before, it's been exactly that, having sex, and now they're in an actual relationship, they're together, the way that Michael was worrying about, doing this all right at last...so it definitely means something, when they make it through the door and James jumps on him and kisses him and pulls him off to bed. For demonstrations of his affection and enthusiasm and apologetic feelings and love.

Have just commented on your flamingos! And yay penguins. (Why penguins, Michael? the coloring? the awkwardness? the good parenting? *laughs*)

Oh, believe me, I was totally there with the quote marks! *g* Although chocolate sauce - mmmmmmmmmmm...sticky. ;)

Er, because penguins are awesome, clearly! (come on, the waddle is adorable!) I think Michael may have been channelling me a little in that ficlet... *g*

(Hmmmmmm, my comment responses don't seem to be up to much this evening - I think I'm slightly braindead at the moment!)

The boys do not mind becoming...sticky. ;-) Anyway, they can always shower, later...

Penguins, hmm? Drat, no good penguin icon. I just always think of Happy Feet, and then I cannot take them seriously! But I actually can see Michael randomly liking them. Something about his sense of humor.

(Poor brain. Blame the undergrads. Much like zombies, they are not satisfied until brains're gone. Perhaps new fic will help?)

Penguins just make me smile - they're funny! :D

That's a very good analogy, I like it! And may have to tell a zombie-obssessed colleague about it :) Wanted to stay up for the new fic last night, I really did, but I was having trouble keeping my eyes open by 10:30, and I thought falling asleep in the middle of it wouldn't really be doing it justice! So I am saving it for tonight :))

Feel free to steal the analogy! Though I'm sure it's been made by others before...

I've always kind of wanted a snow leopard. They look so cuddly. Until they kill you, of course. Though if we're going with birds, I'd vote for magpies, perhaps. Folklorically good for divination!

Fic can wait, it'll be here when you're awake! Get rest. Survive the undergrads. :-)
