2. It's the absurdist quality of that, I think--the movie constantly reminds you that he's not quite human. Same with the hair. It's too ridiculously like someone's idea of perfection. Which makes complete sense, of course, but I can't help thinking about elves...
7. SERIOUSLY. Maybe we should just assume she's not human, either?
10. Maybe...maybe he said whatever it was on purpose, to make the Last Survivor angry. Because the humans shouldn't get to know their god.

15. Agreed. A while ago, Awesome Husband was watching the Face/Off reality show (about makeup artists) and they kept saying that old age makeup was the trickiest one to do, worse than monsters, because it had to look real. And here, well, evidently it WAS tricky.
16. Oh, I should've mentioned him! That was one of the unanswered questions that I did like leaving open-ended: why is he there, and what does he want?

20. yep, very end! It's just that quick logo/date flash, so you didn't really miss anything except the curiosity about what's happening in October.

I tend towards the opinion that watching a film should be an enjoyable experience - which doesn't mean I don't watch serious or sad movies, but ultimately I'm still enjoying the experience of watching them ...me, too: I can handle unhappy endings (though I might need to go watch something fluffy afterward) but I need it to be a good film, the kind that draws me in and makes me care about the characters/story regardless of the ending. (Another good example: Last King of Scotland.) If I fundamentally can't care about either the plot or the people involved, then I probably will give up. Might attempt to watch Shame tomorrow, then. I probably can't convince Awesome Husband that he wants to see it--I've tried once--so I'll have to do it when he's not around...

Yep, those are the films that make me annoyed that I wasted two hours of my life on them! (I think I watch films through to the end even if I'm not enjoying them terribly in the hope that they'll somehow get better, though, so I suppose it's really my own fault if I've wasted the time on them!)

10. Yeah, that thought only occurred to me later, but it's very possible. We never get subtitles, and of course they told him to say certain things, but he's certainly capable of saying other things...
15. ...I can't come up with any, either! Hmm. Maybe Bilbo, at the end of Return of the King? But they're already starting with an older actor...

I think I watch films through to the end even if I'm not enjoying them terribly in the hope that they'll somehow get better, though ...I tend to also leave the film on, because I hate unfinished stories, but I'll start doing something else at the same time, like grading, or reading a for-fun book, so that I can glance up occasionally and keep an eye on the movie while not completely wasting the hours!
