news!

So...kind of a neat thing: a while ago, a colleague and I had submitted a potential chapter proposal for inclusion in an essay collection on medievalism and the uses of the medieval in video games. (Ours is on Arthurian themes and echoes in World of Warcraft; no, I don't play WoW; I am the medievalist half of our writing team, and my lovely co-author is the half of us that works in digital media studies and loves her RPGs.) We heard from the person editing the collection that he would indeed like to use our proposed essay as one of the chapters, but he still needed to send the complete book proposal out to editors...

So we heard yesterday that the editors over at Routledge liked the idea, haven't made any changes to the suggested list of essays, and are sending out contributor contracts! *is excited* They did impose strict word limits, though. 5,000 words per chapter. Which might be an issue, seeing as how our proposal alone was over 1,000. Oh, well, we have until August to figure this out...

Anyway, I just thought I'd share! *grin*
