As much as the thought sounds intriguing, my brain always gets stuck on "but tables are hard and uncomfortable" and then personally I think I'm too short for that type of thing, unless I were dating some 6' tall giant, which bothers me for other reasons (I think it's the idea of dating someone taller than I am, so I'm always looking up at them and they're looking down at me. Another reason I fear relationships for me will fail. Too short to be any good to anyone with my own insecurities and fears.) It is an intriguing thought, works better for them, closeness in heights, but still... the table, really? I guess I just don't see the appeal, especially when a perfectly good bed is elsewhere.

Oh, they make it to the bed eventually! They just don't want to wait! And they're both taller than you and I are, of course. :-p

Also, though, Charles doesn't exactly mind the hard table. He's probably a tiny bit of a masochist like that--not that he enjoys pain, for the sake of pain, but when it's part of the being wanted and dominated and enjoyed, then yes. So...yes, it is a hard surface, and no, he doesn't mind? *grin* Erik would stop if he objected, but he doesn't!

It does make sense, the not waiting, but I guess it's just one of those things that momentarily throws me out because I just can't imagine doing it myself or if being as easy as we make a lot of sex things in fic. It's not bad enough that I stopped reading, that's only happened once and that was more because I kept getting confused about who was where during the sex in the chair.

I guess within the context of Charles within this fic, it does make sense.

It's a big sturdy table, which also helps. (That's why that line was in there! No spindly breakable furniture.) I can imagine doing it, though not with our current table, or the Evil Demon Cat possibly appearing in the kitchen...can't be any worse than the floor, after all! Erik is also kind of clumsily trying to make amends for whatever he's said that made Charles flinch, earlier: see, I want you, I want you this much, right here and now...

I kept getting confused about who was where during the sex in the chair.

That definitely sounds like a problem! I mean, if readers're getting distracted and counting limbs, there's something wrong with the porn!

Hee, I wasn't expecting kitchen-table!sex... *g* But it was very hot, of course!

And then all those complicated emotions turn up - although I sense that Erik isn't going to let them get in the way of thoroughly ruining Charles (and given Charles' history, that will be quite the accomplishment!)

Now on to part 2 - looking forward to it! ;)

It was very spur-of-the-moment! Erik needed to make sure Charles knew how much he was wanted. Right then. On a table. :-)

I do rather like Erik's...not exactly over-reaction, because it's hard to over-react to those things, but the jump to 'oh god what if Charles isn't okay', because yes it's irrational on the surface, but it's completely in-character for him (says the author! oh well) given his backstory, and it's also about how instinctive his protect-Charles impulse is! I also did want to have Charles calming him down, taking care of him, in that moment--so much of this story is hurt!Charles, so it's nice to see the comfort go the other way once in a while. :-)
