Things that are good:
--my dissertation committee chair sent me a draft of the letter of rec he's writing for me for this job application, and it is just LOVELY. All personal and sweet and with a long paragraph about the value of my research and my contributions to the field and I just want to hug him. And possibly cry.
--Awesome Husband and I celebrated our eighth year of being an us, over the weekend. Not our wedding anniversary, or even our technical first date, but the night I called him and we realized that we most wanted to talk to each other, more than anyone else, at the end of each day, forever. (I should really tell this story properly. Not now, but soon, after I write it all out.) He was beautifully romantic and kept surprising me with little things--strawberry chocolate at midnight on Thursday (because our actual anniversary was Friday), caramel frappuccino on his way home from work on Friday (he also came home early), movie after which he walked us over to the ice-cream place and we shared a caramel sea-salt gelato cup; lots of, well, R-rated things at home, which I suppose you would expect, considering our dynamic; but then we got into the shower and he washed my hair for me and cuddled me and made sure I was okay and feeling anchored, after. And then Sunday he acquired Welcome to the Punch for me, like magic, produced out of nowhere.
--an absolutely glorious remix of one of my Erik/Charles stories has appeared over in X-Men Remix Madness! You Make Me Drop Things (The Hold Tight, It's Just Beginning Remix) by someone who shall remain anonymous for now (but I know who it is! *grin*) So, thank you, love, this is just splendidly perfect, so elegant, and with such true love evident in every line, sometimes rough around the edges, and always about choice, and always real. I should give a proper summary, I suppose; have some key words: eidetic memory, the lines Charles loves on Erik's face, proposals, sweetness, new beginnings, beauty.
--so this happened today: I was at Starbucks just now, and I asked for a mocha cookie crumble frappuccino with raspberry in it:
barista #1: …is that good? we’ve never had anyone order that before, but it sounds awesome!
me: I…don’t know, but I usually put raspberry syrup in the regular mocha version, so I figured I’d try this…
barista #2: *coming over* OMG, this sounds delicious, I want to try it!
barista #1: how about we just make a lot of it, and then we can try it, and you can have yours on the house?
me: …yes, all right!

And it was DELICIOUS, let me just say.
Love you all! *blows kisses*

awesome husband is awesome, things that are good, x-men remix madness, fantastic friends, academia, life
