Here're the Erik/Charles two, plus one Brandon Sullivan/Johnny Martin, because, well, someone asked, and I'd actually never written a McFassy character pairing (Erik/Charles doesn't count) before! The McFassy fic will go up in the next post. :-)

For me, I can't really ship it because too many times I've seen "Johnny/Brandon because they're both addicts" and that's not enough for me. I've known addicts in my life. I've known addicts in relationships with other addicts and it's never gone well, even if they've both been trying to overcome their addictions. They need someone stable to help them when they start to fall. That's why I like Johnny with Paul. I do like that you went the music route for them, it makes sense and it's more than just they're addicts. That works well for me. Still not enough to ship it, but enough for this little ficlet.
I've only read Dorian Gray from Wilde and I read it when I was in jr high and again in high school and Dorian fascinates me as both a person and a character. I actually wrote a paper on the book in my English class my senior year. My teacher was impressed because I'd obviously read the book unlike several of my classmates. And I agree, Charles is definitely worthy of being called art. :D

No, not enough for me either! That was partly why I made them both *recovering* in my ficlet; I do think they can understand and support each other if they've already gotten to be strong individually, but it'd be awfully difficult for them to pull each other up while still fighting. The music just gave them a common anchor. :-)
I like the plays better, I think. Wittier lines, and (sometimes) less cruel. We did Ernest in school and read lines out loud, and it was fun. (Ah, *those* classmates. There's always at least one. Cue teacherly ire...) And I like the idea of Charles as a more sympathetic Dorian--he'd try to live forever, not out of vanity or cynicism, but in order to go on helping people!

There's books I feel like we covered in school, but it was like the teacher's quick note version, before subjecting us to the least boring version of the film. I definitely remember doing it with Macbeth. I was very peeved, because I'd actually started reading Macbeth and the film we watched didn't do it justice imo and there were too many things that my teacher ended up having to explain to my classmates that didn't translate well. Lack of time and funds in high school to properly read the stories.
