they have this giant daunting thing hanging over their heads and they're kinda like hold up, park yourselves in the corner and wait, it's US TIME and you can't take it from us bitch.
*laughs* More or less yes, to this! This night, this is all about them, and everything they could be together. Regardless of weakness or vengeance or past hurt or Shaw. This is just for them, and they'll take it.
*assists with fanning, politely* Good, then? :-) It did have to be impressive, though. First times and all--and yet of course they've already telepathically explored sensations, so it's a first time but with the added bonus of already knowing what your partner likes best--the best of both worlds, really! Or it would be if Charles was a bit more healthy. Still, the bitterness helps with the sweetness, right? (And we'll just keep thinking that for the next chapter...) (Happy endings, though. I can't do anything else. Promise.)

good you ask. marvelous more like. it's a heap of feelings and emotions and connections and connecting and love and all that is good and right in the world. kinda jealous tbh. telepathic sex sounds really freaking awesome and i wanna try it. damn our non-mutant-ness. happy endings are the way to go, so thank you for that.

Flattery, I love it! *grinning at laptop* They definitely needed this moment. Because in the morning, well, Sebastian Shaw...*ominous soundtrack noises* Telepathic sex is pretty brilliant, I'd think--no limits, only everything you can imagine, and knowing each other so intimately...it might be both awkward that Erik's a non-telepath--he has to trust Charles so very deeply--and also better: two telepaths might overwhelm each other...
In my head-canon, eventually, Erik and Charles realize in every universe that they are better and stronger together, and come back to each other. Because that is a True Thing. Also what fanfic's for. And me using my dissertation materials in really interesting ways! :-p

i like this headcanon, i may have to adopt this headcanon because it is so awesome. it has many possibilites, which is always lots of fun. amen to the fanfic! good use of dissertation materials indeed! :)

See, I do believe that they needed some sort of confrontation, because they do have different ideologies, and they initially subsume their differences under the need to stop Shaw and their own desire for each other, but those things need to come to light. But I also believe that they want the same things, ultimately--equality, a better and safer world for the people they love, each other again--and canonically the tragedy is that they never see that, but in fanfic we can get them to come to that realization: compromise only makes them stronger. :-)

of course. all of that. it helps that angst and h/c and all of that makes all of the compromising and after-fluff extra amazing and more affirming to everything that they are and believe in with each other. my favorite type of characterization are foil characters, especially when they're the main characters (it helps when one is metallokinetic and any metal-related references make them happy). you get the back and forth between them going and it just gets bigger and bigger and better and better and then there is greatness that they wouldn't have ever had if it'd just been them reflecting shaw/kurt which would probably have ended very badly for everything and everyone ever.
