I expected you to pop in. I amost never hear a positive response from you, I'm sorry you have such negativity surrounding you when it comes to watching others try to change their lives.

Did you read every word? I don't think you did, and you are taking me to extremes. I have never said "don't buy anything."

"Don't give up. I'm not going to. Not give up on myself when I sputter and lapse, buy try to get on track again. Buying things is ok, with care, education, and thought. Support non-mass production when I can, not taking the "cheap" route when I can support environmental practices and small biz for a few more dollars."

Hm, "rampant consumerism" to replace a machine that I use for my livelihood with beginning harddrive failure, a cracked screen and, meant to be portable, has no battery, that I've had for years.

The duct tape didn't work. I tried, with several layers. It was impossible to keep the door shut enough for the batteries to keep their connection, the camera did not work. It was irritating for such a small thing to bring it completely down, but it did. Oh, it wasn't a brand new one, by the way, used, the same model I bought 4+ years ago. Which is nice, so that I have a backup for spare parts for the future.

And yes, we have a list of things for the garden. So that we can make it more sustainable to neighborhood animals and plants, so that pests will have predators, so that we can garden without using pesticides and weed killers. So that we can remove the invasive English Ivy we have been hacking away at for months and replace it with something that isn't taking over the landscape of the Portland Area. So that we can grow our own veggies instead of buying them pre-ripened from trucks hauling them miles away.

I never said I wouldn't buy things, I would simply be more mindful of how I spent my money, when I spent it, and detach from the overall consumer culture more than previously.

I take no offense. Most anger, or finger pointing, or attempts to prove someone inaccurate starts with discomfort from within the self. This has been true for me. I have no quarrel with your opinions on behavior as you see it through the typed words. But I also know that the typed word is all you see.

Be well!
