Life in korea.

So A small commentary on my time in Korea.

Korea seems to be in a constant competition with the Japanese. From my personal knowledge from being half korean before I came to korea, I had the idea that in generally the Koreans Did not like Japan at all. It comes to me now that it is less of a hatred and more of a feirce competition, the hatred evolved into something more managable.

As for interesting things I have noticed, I have yet to meet on pizza faced korean teen, is this because of a hightened sense of cleanliness that follows everything in korea or is it simply because they are too ashamed to come out of the house? Young korean men are always touching their girlfriends as if someone is going to come out of no where and steal their woman. Also, woman look for a man who is better off than them, even a powerful woman with lots of money will always look for a man who is doing better than her even if he looks like the Hunchback from Notre Dame.

There is no anti gay marriage law. They didn't think for a need of one since it is an unspeakable crime to be gay. What is interesting about that though is that they also keep the fact that gay people get married in the country a well kept secret. Who knew? lol, but the problem is that if A celebrity comes out, his career is over and he doesn't die of HIV or Aids. No, he commits suicide. The other option is usually worse. except if you are the one korea Celebrity who's life wasn't completely ruined who opened a nice small club in Jogno3-ga. or is it Itaewon....its hard to remember sometimes. Three areas of seoul where being gay is ok are: Itaewon 이태원(where all the foreigners are), Jogno3-ga 종러(which may actually be a part of itaewon), And of course the university district of Shinchon 신촌, where being gay is ok because they are educated.

Currently, I am sitting in a nice high rise apt. in Incheon 인츤, eating a plate of fruit prepared by my mom's lovely cousin while everyone is in the other room being all...korean. Life is really tolerable in this country. The only problem is that I am doing so much private tutoring in both the morning and the evening that I haven't had time to go to anyof the gay friendly places. The places I want to go to immidiately, I have and it isn't till now that it has really bothered me. Anywho, I am signing off, i will post soon about Korea. Have fun where ever you all are,

~Eugene

p.s.- The korean spellings are from my head and may be incorrect.
