Welcome to chapter 24 of the Lune Legacy, entitled "Can we Last?".
In the last chapter, Venus chose which of her two male friends that she wanted to be with. Jerome was the lucky winner of Venus's affections. At least, he was until she ran out and kissed Edgardo. Now, Jerome is mad at her, and the only things still connecting them to one another are their triplet girls. Dallas, Sydney, and Paris are about to become toddlers.
Paris was the first to age up. She had her mothers black hair and her fathers dark blue eyes. She also seems to have a bit of an awkward jaw.
Dallas was second. Her coloring was exactly the same as her mothers.
Sydney was last, and the most adorable of the three. She had blonde hair and her fathers dark blue eyes.
After the birthday celebrations had ended, Jerome looked at his fiance. Maybe they could make it work between them, as long as Venus promised to never see Edgardo again.
They had a nice conversation about silly things like the weather and work, nothing serious.
Jerome, overcome with love for Venus, couldn't help but kiss her. She didn't complain.
But, unfortunately, that was just the thing to start another argument. Jerome was mad at himself for giving into her so easily and was only too happy to take that anger out on Venus. Venus had no problem fighting back.
Venus: Oh, go shove a plumbob in it!
While all this was taking place in the kitchen, Mercy and Heriberto had started on potty training the toddlers. Potty training was, afterall, the most important skill.
Frustrated with Jerome and his roller coaster of emotions, Venus went down to the park to relieve some stress. While down there, she ran into Nebula and her husband.
Nebula was very obviously pregnant, she was ready to pop at any minute. She would go on to have twin girls named Takisha and Julia.
While Venus was out, Jerome called into his work and quit. It was already only too obvious that he wouldn't have time to work with three toddlers crawling about.
And he was right. Having triplets was a bad idea.
Of course, every so often, they'd be empty of poo and calm enough to let you enjoy holding them. It was a rare moment though.
Venus didn't have as much time to be crazy anymore, what with three toddlers underfoot. She'd take a break to fight off the invisible man every so often, though.
The next day marked Venus's first ever day of work in the science career. She was so excited, she even dressed in her everyday wear.
Mercy was still rocking out in her old age, and she had yet to retire. This left Jerome and Heriberto to be house husbands and take care of the toddlers. The two good males seemed content with this arrangement.
The toddlers were just too cute, so that made their jobs enjoyable. Although, the good Paris seemed a little wary of the evil Dallas.
When Venus returned home from work, she pulled Jerome away from little Sydney.
Venus: If you're still interested, I want to get married, right now, this very second. I know we have some problems, but we can work through them and come out on top.
Jerome: Is Edgardo out of our life forever?
Venus: Yes.
And so the pair was married in a private ceremony that night. Jerome took on the cursed last name of 'Lune'.
Later on that night, Venus was properly shocked that she had gone through with the marriage.
Venus: Oh my! What will the garbage monster say when he finds out that he wasn't invited?
The Lunes were once again a happy bunch, even if they were a bit dysfunctional.
Venus's little insane spawn, Dallas, looked too much like her mother. It was unsettling.
The next morning, VJ decided to be a rebel and not return to his grave again. It wouldn't be such a problem if he didn't create such messes.
Sydney was the first of the triplets to learn how to walk and talk. She got to enjoy playtime while Paris and Dallas had to endure their training. They're lucky they haven't been trained to attack the monsters like Venus wanted them to be.
If it wasn't for Heriberto, Jerome would be alone taking care of the triplets all day. Even two people weren't able to keep them from crying most times.
Then the fateful day came when it was time for Mercy and Heriberto to move out of Lune manor. They had helped their daughter as much as they could, but it was time for them to enjoy their golden years. Mercy took one more look at her playing grandchildren before Heriberto called for a cab.
Venus came home from work just in time to be able to see them out.
Much like Cleo had left her easel, Mercy left her guitar for the future Lune generations.
Jerome was a little put off by losing the other caregiver in the house.
Jerome: Hey, VJ, since you're out all day now anyway, you interested in babysitting?
VJ: You're kidding, right?
Triple potty action.
The newlyweds spent their nights doing what newlyweds do. Not sure why Tune felt inclined to watch, though. Also not sure why Tune didn't move out with his parents, and instead chose to stay with his crazy sister, her grumpy husband, and three weird kids.
A ghost bonding moment happened that night. If VJ is going to be out all the time, the least he could do is put on pants.
The next day marked the birthday of the triplets. The little terrors were growing into children.
Paris was the first one to age. She became an absent-minded, good, and unlucky little girl.
Dallas was next. She grew up to resemble Paris almost exactly.
Well, she resembles Paris as long as she isn't having an evil moment. Dallas became an insane and evil mooch.
Sydney was last. She definately was the cutest of the three. She became a neurotic and athletic daredevil.
The residents of Lune manor didn't seem to know exactly what to do with the three little girls.
They needed to move out of the nursary though, so a remodeling was needed. The two bedrooms overtop of the kitchen were torn down, and the area became one big bedroom styled for little girls.
It was a little Princess room with one big bathroom.
Their bathroom was the only completely renovated and finished bathroom in the house.
The little girls were lucky to have it at all. The Lunes were quickly running out of money, and couldn't afford to remodel much in the house.
Mercy's guitar barely had time to cool off before Jerome had picked it up. The virtuoso in him couldn't wait to learn to play.
Dallas managed to trap Sydney in the bathroom that night.
Dallas: Listen up, little miss. I don't like you, so you better be keeping your distance. And if I find out that you ratted me out for something, I'll make sure you regret it.
Sydney: Whoa, Dallas, what did I ever do to you?
Dallas: Oh, you know what you did!
Late that night, Venus started showing her newly acquired pregnancy.
Tune was a lot younger than his three sisters, so he was never really included in their plans and conversations. He's too old for his neices to include him. The poor guy may as well have grown up alone.
That day was a Saturday so the kids all decided to do their own things. Dallas went down to the local cemetary and stared at some graves for no known reason. Maybe she was plotting who she should raise for her army.
The two remaining triplets stayed around the house and played tag all day. Paris and Sydney got along great.
Tune went out with his best friend, Margerita Duggan. She was the little sister of Edgardo Duggan, the romantic interest of Venus.
She found Tune's cowardly and neurotic ways to be absolutely funny.
Soon, Dallas had tired of the cemetary and went down to a protest at city hall. She ran into baldy boy Lune here, a son of Chase, and decided to mooch some money off of him. Of course he couldn't resist the cute, threatening, evil little bundle of joy. He gave her a couple dollars.
Then he gave her a bowl of cereal.
Dallas: Seriously?
The family all met up back at the table for supper. Finally Tune was included, even if Jerome wouldn't look at him. He was probably mad at him about something or other.
The television also broke that night, and since it was connected to the video game that kept the children entertained, Venus felt a need to fix it straight away. She found that she had a knack for fixing things.
The next morning she was back on the search for broken things in the home, and there were plenty. So, armed with only a hammer and screwdriver, the pregnant woman spent her day repairing anything and everything.
And she was one heavily pregnant woman too, she was ready to burst at any moment. By this time, Nebula had her first set of twins, and had already had a second set of female twins. Lait had two sons as well.
VJ was one helpful ghost.
And he still wasn't wearing pants.
That night, while repairing the laptop, Venus went into labour.
No screaming or looks of pain came from the woman. She calmly walked out of the recreation room and asked Jerome to bring her to the hospital.
Where she had one adorable baby boy!
Cleo waundered into the entryway to meet the newest Lune when they returned home from the hospital. The boy was named London Lune, and he was a brave virtuoso.
His birth was celebrated with another attempt at pregnancy. Jerome wanted five children in total, so one more would make the redhead happy.
Right after the attempt, Jerome went over to feel his wife's stomach. He knew there was another little one in there, he just knew it.
Jerome was the only Lune heiress or spouse who still didn't have a painting done. Unfortunately, Tune was the only artist left in the house, and he wasn't the best at it. He was on his third attempt this day.
The girls bonded over a game of football that night after their homework was done.
Dallas: This game is stupid. If I tackle you hard enough, your head should pop off.
Sydney: It's a kids game, Dallas.
Paris: Yeah, like, no blood and stuff.
Dallas: No one asked you, goody.
Pregnancy seems to bring out the repair person in Venus. She added a wrench to her arsenal of tools.
When the girls got home from school that night, a sit down homework session was held. VJ seemed oddly attached to the little evil one. She was the only flesh member of the house that he had ever seeked out to talk with.
The next day was Tune's birthday. He was finally ready to become a young adult and move out of the crazy house.
He grew up to be an almost exact clone of his father. He moved into the Duggan household.
That day served to be more than just Tune's birthday, it was the triplets birthday as well.
Sydney turned into a very Barbie doll-like teenager. She was cute, blonde, and enjoyed pink. She also added over-emotional to her list of traits.
Paris grew up to be an awkward looking teenager. She heavily took after her father in appearance. She added easily-impressed to her list of traits.
Last, Dallas aged up. Her appearance also heavily resembled her father, but it suited her less than conventional style and attitude. She added childish to her list of traits.
Venus wore her hair in a less than feminine way but it seemed to suit her personality.
After the girls aged up, Venus recieved a phone call. She took the call in private and had a quick conversation with Edgardo Duggan. Maybe he wasn't completely out of her life afterall.
The girls went to bed not long after they became teenagers, and after Venus got off her secret phone call.
She didn't have a lot of time to think about the call though, as she went into labour soon after. As always, Jerome took her to the hospital.
And there she had twin girls, which were completely unplanned. The first twin was named Alberta, she was artistic and friendly. The second twin was named Verona, she was athletic and love the outdoors. With six kids, Jerome and Venus were in for a hard time of it.
This brings chapter 24 to a close. The triplets are teenagers, and Jerome and Venus have three little newborn babies on their hands. Will the fifth generation Lunes be able to handle the kids, their lack of finances, and their own suffering relationship?
