Is what I thought when I was woken up very early this morning because the 85-year-old window next to my bed was rattling hard like it does when the wind is coming in from the east. And my bed was shaking. I couldn't quite figure out how the rattling window was making my bed shake, but it was.
Or so I thought until I heard on the news that there was an earthquake; the epicenter was 240 miles away in southern Illinois. Ah. That explained it! And explained why my cat was extra vocal early this morning (how far in advance of an earthquake do animals notice it?).
I was like cool. I've never been in an earthquake that I've known about, though my cousin said I slept through one when I was visiting him in far northern California. And luckily there was no damage that I can see or heard about.
