From yesterday's Twitter entries:
"The definition of perfect timing: Playing an announcement for the local Pridefest 20 minutes after listening to a caller's homophobic rant."
The caller's number (which I got through *69, but she has said it during previous calls) sounded familiar. This woman has called KRCC at least twice before during my shift complaining about the gay-themed events the station announces and any news story/talk show topic focusing on homosexuality (the ones we're supposedly forcing the caller to listen to.) This time, she stated that lesbians are not gays (???) She also said gays are "slime swappers." and accused me of being a "slime boy."
It's one thing to express an opinion about a subject. It's quite another to attack a person for airing a different opinion, especially when that person doesn't control the programming selection. This woman didn't ask to speak to the station manager or program director (they aren't in on Saturdays, anyway.) She just launched into her tirade against gays when I answered the phone.
