I say yet because it's progressing in that direction. Quickly. So why bother with a journal entry? 'Cause... Yeah. Just 'cause.
There are times I really hate how women portray themselves. Now don't get me wrong, women can be awesome. My friends, the few I keep, and those I admire, those are some pretty awesome gals. It doesn't matter what they do, or like, or anything... It's all about mindset. Lemme tell ya, living in Kentucky has to be the hive of intolerable and downright stupid women. I would love to say there's a few exceptions... Haven't found them yet.
I also tend to dislike how some men view us, or at least me in particular. Earlier, Chris and I were discussing two comics, Achewood and Questionable Content. Now, he likes Achewood, which according to him (and what bits I've managed to read), it's rather male-driven. QC on the other hand... Snarkiliciously odd, likely geared towards girls / nice guys with the indies in mind. It's riddled with musical references to Indie culture that I'll never understand, but no less, I love it. Achewood, on the other hand, I can barely manage through without wondering "...this...is supposed to be funny?"
Now this isn't just because I'm a girl, which is what he said. I understand that Achewood is rather male driven, but just because I have a vagina doesn't mean I can't understand some of what guys go through, especially when it comes to women.
Before anyone asks, I'm straight, mm'kay? Although slight perversion to annoying a bi friend of mine. 83 Oh how dominance can rule over her adorable shyness.
It's more that, I have discovered, that regardless of one's level of intelligence, humor varies. A lot, actually. I'm more of a dark humor/sarcasm person. Stabbity-stabbity and witty remarks gets me more than public humility and crude jokes will. My characters, or at least the supporting ones, show this about me. Zwart, my coco (black) cat, is about as sane as a woodpecker trying to dig a hole into a metal telephone pole. He's addicted to catnip, dreams of world domination with his titanium spork, and often makes sarcastic remarks about those around him. Gwyn, my kiki (white) cat, on the other hand, tends to lean towards the more intellectual side of things. He's rather cool and collected, but favors in any chance of besting Zwart. Mind games usually work, as well as equally sarcastic remarks, typically on his brother's sanity. Oh, also Zwart's violent as a feral cat, and Gwyn is comically violent to Zwart, and Zwart only.
I wouldn't call myself comically endowed, no, I fail quite miserably at even telling the simplest of jokes. I think it takes a level of confidence to do that. Rather, I roll off with witty little remarks and strange sayings, such as "I r rebel, here me squeak". Pointless little things like that.
On Chris' defense, he's quite the intelligent guy! I would say he's close to one of the brightest little stars I know, although never ask him about any emotional issues. Never. He's quite dumbfounded. I think that comes with the territory of how his mind works, though. Sam's about the same, but they're still hard-wired differently, especially when it comes to humor. Tyler, on the other hand, will give you a thesis.
His choice in comics reflects his lack of understanding of emotions (thereby, fluffy little ruts of emo-insanity are well above his head), and rather revels in random qualms and curiosities of the world we live in. Or just random level 9000 random bullshit, also known as Dr. McNinja. That...is one random-ass comic. It's great, I just can't get into it, though. I think I got the name of that one right.
Also, there are very few decent female characters in comics. QC and Sam & Fuzzy have the only ones I've taken notice of so far; Faye (who I am told I'm very very very much alike) and Nicole.
