Ok, so the new Facebook can be a little overwhelming at first, and may seem "stalker-ish"... but its not really that different than the site you may have visited last week. If anything, it's more convenient.
What's so bad about having everything organized on one page? It let's you keep track of when your friends uploaded photos, updated their status, updated any personal information they updated, wrote a new note, etc (and it reduces the number of page views, which is good for a web developers standpoint). You wouldn't update this stuff if you didn't want people to see it. That's basically the point Facebook.
Another reason I like it is because it makes the site more personable. It really punishes the "social-networking whores", who half their friend base are people they're not really friends with. If you want random people or "friends of a friend of a friend" to view information about you, use MySpace or LiveJournal. People seem to post the play-by-play of their lives (yes, including me on LJ) on those services, and they're open to practically anyone who has an email address.
And if you, like thousands of Facebook users, feel your privacy has been invaded further with these new features, you are as wrong as the rest of them. People could find out what changes you have been making, only now, its presented to you instead of you digging around pages upon pages for it (doesn't all that work make you even more of a stalker anyway?). Absolutely NO privacy settings have been taken away. If you don't want people viewing what you posted on other peoples wall, then go into the privacy settings and turn it off. It's that simple. A feature they could maybe add would be a way to filter which items are displayed on news feeds. That is, if you're into censorship, you communist bastard.
I will agree, however, that some things on this News Feed are a little unnecessary. I mean, I personally don't have much interest in seeing one of my friends become friends with some random person I don't know. Maybe just showing me if one of my friends became friends with someone in my network would be better. But that's just me.
So, although you may be complaining about the how much the new Facebook sucks, I bet your logging on just the same amount of time, or even more. It's only a matter of time before you get used to this new Feed system, and wonder how you stalked your friends without it. :p
