"You were drunk last night, weren't you, hyung?"
Onew's back straightens the way it does when he is feeling particularly guilty. Onew is a wonderful actor, but that is onstage, in front of a camera, in front of an audience, in front of managers and reporters and choreographers. In the relative privacy of their dorm, he is vulnerable, he is open, and he cannot lie to save his life.
Key drums his fingers on the table and regards Onew thoughtfully. "I'm not scolding you or anything, hyung. I was just wondering."
Onew's body slouches back into the couch slowly, carefully. "Yeah, I was," he mumbles, turning his gaze down to his socked feet and thinking of the celebratory party that the musical cast invited him to; the way he couldn't refuse their continuous offers of soju even though his head was already spinning; the way he woke up on the couch with a blanket tucked around his shoulders and no clear memory of what had transpired the night before.
"Why do you ask?" Onew says suddenly, daring to look up at Key.
The younger boy's gaze softens, and Onew cannot read the emotion that suddenly fills his eyes. "Just wondering," Key shrugs, sliding out of his seat and pocketing his cellphone as he heads into their bedroom.
"Huh," Onew murmurs.
