[ Warren is exiting the hardware store in town with a bagfull of ammo for his gun when he spots Garviel. The face is familiar, but it's the armor that gives him pause. That is impressive, and warren can't help but stare for a moment. Yes, this is definitely someone he wants to stay on the good side of. ]

You don't look so well.

Just passing pain, ser. Think nothing of it. [ He takes a welcome moment to stop, feeling the painkiller injector of the plate kick in, numbing the agony of his side with narcotics. ]

[spellbent]

We've already established that I'm no doctor, but you might want to get that looked at.

[lunawolves10th]

My body recovers, I will do so soon enough, though. But there are few doctors worth of trust within this place.

[spellbent]

Ah, fair enough.

If you don't mind my asking, you mentioned you were a soldier- what do you fight that you have to wear that?

[ He sweeps his free hand, indicating Garviel's armor ]

Daemons. [ The answer is short, concise, and totally accurate. It was a daemon who gave him this wound, it was a daemon who started his path towards this moment, and it will be Daemons he hunts in his future as one of the 8 founders of the Grey Knights. ]

But... it wasn't designed to fight them. That is just what I've had to use it for. It was built to fight Xenos races. Aliens.

[spellbent]

Aliens and Daemons, hm? Remind me never to get on your bad side.

You would be amazed at how many people say that.

[spellbent]

You're intimidating on your own, but it reaches a whole new level when you add all that metal.

That was the Emperor's intent on creating us. The Legiones Astartes are a shock assault force. If we terrify the enemy before engaging them, we have already won.

[spellbent]

This Emperor of yours did a good job, I'd say.

... You know, I don't think I ever got your name. I'm Warren. Warren West.

A pleasure, Ser west. I am Garviel Loken. [ He smiles, proud of the Emperor. ]

[spellbent]

What happened to you, anyway?

Fought a sorcerer and a Daemon. Drove them off.... but it was a hard fight.

[spellbent]

[ He quirks an eyebrow ] A sorcerer? Do you fight those a lot, too?

[lunawolves10th]

From time to time. They dabble in the warp, and as such, expose themselves to Daemons and the like. An unsanctioned, superstitious psyker is a conduit for the most dangerous things the world has ever seen. It was they that set the galaxy aflame, and divided the Emperor's dominion against itself.

[ He doesn't sound angry, more sad. The story is a bitter one, and his role in it as the man who saw it happening but was always one step behind was a cruel one. ]
