11 PM, backdated to Wednesday night. Action 1, locked to 2237 Stevens Residents: [ Garviel awakens after a day of droning, and the awakening is not a gentle one. A yell of pain can be heard, and then silence, aside from his heavy steps as he descends the stairs of the home and swiftly armors himself in his Astartes plate without a word to anyone ( Read more... )

I worked rather hard fixing that armor for you, you know.

[And now you've gone and roughed it all up again. Good job, Garviel.]

Klaus.

[ Garviel is quiet for a long, long time. He doesn't turn to look at the Baron, not yet. ]

The damage is cosmetic only.

I doubt that. Such damage as that cannot be incurred through mere battle-related wear and tear. That was intentional. Why?

[Klaus is quiet content to have this conversation facing Garviel's back. It's not as though his helm would offer any more expression, after all.]

I wished to remove all signs of my former allegiance to my traitorous gene-father. I am a Legion of one. And I will kill them all.

[Okay then.

Something is clearly very, very wrong here. Garviel sounds more like a Spark in a fit about how 'the fools don't understaaaand' than he does his usual level-headed self.]

And who, exactly, is 'them'?

The Sons of Horus. The other traitors. Every man-jack who swore himself to the dark gods is my prey the prey of Cerebu.... my foes.
[He shakes his head.]

[Garviel. Look at your life. Look at your choices.]

In short, people you likely will not find here.

I assume you went home. This is unlike you to the point where significant mental change must have occurred in a very short amount of time, and for that, a trip back to your own time would be the only plausible explanation.

I regret to inform you that, as far as I know, there is still no one here from your reality besides perhaps Cain. Your man-jacks and Sons of Horus are inaccessible for killing, however justified it would or would not be.

[So take a chill pill, get down off this hilltop and let him fix your armor again, you stupid bitch.]

No. Here I just deal with murderers and people who willingly play blood games at the behest of the foul masters of this town. [ Someone's still mad.]

[Oh come on.]

I did nothing at their behest. Everything I did was solely my own decision and I, and I alone, can atone for what I did or did not do. Your sense of justice does you credit, as does your sense of duty, but one can't help but wonder how you'll have time to pass unwarranted judgment on everyone you come into contact with when you still insist upon occupying yourself with certain... distractions.

[Certain adorable psyker distractions.]

There isn't room in your life for both, after all. Cut me out over a petty grudge, if you must, but will you really be able to get rid of her the first time she says something that goes against your ridiculous code?

Distractions? I do not und.....

Human life is not a petty concern, especially not here! This town does everything it can to unbind our darkest hearts. We must not give in, even if killing is simply a temporary setback.

[He turns, stepping up, getting into Klaus face, staring down at him, eyepiece to eye.]

There -are- no distractions for me. There is only duty and my oaths. I can't begin to imagine what you were implying beyond that. [Or he doesn't want to.]

[Klaus will not be so easily intimidated, Garviel. He doesn't waver or move to step back, but rather solidly holds his ground, his expression still calm.]

Human life is the key to escape. How they bring us here -- how they can kill us and yet create boundless amounts of flawless copies with no memory damage -- ah, but you don't care. I suppose I shouldn't bother. All that matters to you is your ridiculous sense of justice and one oath in particular.

I saw you, Garviel. You may not realize it -- you can be shockingly dense sometimes in matters that don't pertain to your blasted code -- but the way you act with Rin is indicative of far more than just a platonic partnership.

You love her and are too duty-blind to realize it. It's sad, really.

[Stupid bitch, etc etc.]

SILENCE! [ Garviel unleashes a ferocious backhand at Klaus' face with his gauntleted left hand.]

Such things... such thoughts are forbidden. It is Heresy!

[For the first time, Klaus has to take a few steps back to steady himself. Damn, but that armor is strong. He learned that much long ago, when Garviel first came to him for repairs. If only he'd been allowed to look at the whole thing at his leisure, he'd probably be able to shut the blasted contraption down.

Later. Right now, he pinches the bridge of his freshly-broken nose and cracks it back into place.]

For the love of Van Rijn...

[He sighs.]

You know, I had been hoping to do this in a non-violent fashion. But if beating sense into you is all that works, then I suppose I have no choice.

[Garviel just howls in anger, the scream of a lost soul. This howl is amplified to eerie levels by the external augmitters on the armor. He lunges in, driving a one-two-combination of punches at the baron, a right-handed jab striking for his jaw, and a left hook blurring towards his chest a quarter of a second later. All his rage, all his hurt, all his loneliness unleashed at the nearest target. Does Klaus deserve it? Not for this, not really. But Garviel has been a bit unbound since his awakening, and Klaus found him at the worst possible time.]

[It's alright. Klaus is a man used to fighting monsters and, if his reaction to the fight with the bear all that time ago is any indication, he'll probably enjoy this. After all, his brilliant counter-testing plan failed. Hiccup is droned. Frankly, he's been feeling terrible for days and a good old-fashioned beatdown might help, regardless of who wins.

Of course, he's never really fought an enemy quite like this. The closest he can think of is Vapnoople's man/wolf hybrid supersoldiers: huge, hulking beasts with reflexes and senses far more advanced than any human's and an unshakable loyalty to their creator. And those... well. It took a lot more than fists to bring those down.

He manages to block the punch to his jaw by grabbing the incoming fist -- not the best idea, perhaps, but he can absorb more force than most. That's why the blow to his chest, which he doesn't manage to block, only knocks him back a few dozen feet rather than through a nearby tree. He knows that he can't possibly hope to do any damage through that suit -- ( ... )

What are you doing Wulfenbach? [ He reaches for his chainsword, but doesn't draw it, not yet.]

Why are you provoking me?
