May 19, 2011 20:52

[It began, as many things do with Garviel, with an Oath. In this case an oath to keep Merem from feeding on the blood of drones for 3 days. Unlike every other oath he has made since he came to mayfield, Garviel is having a truly difficult time keeping it. Because the monster is -fast- Fast enough to outrun bullets. Even a transhuman in speed- ( Read more... )

[Yuri's fallen in line next to Garviel, keeping pace with him and eyeing him critically for a few moments before speaking his conclusion aloud.]

"Y'know, you look like shit. And that's just your fancy (well, not so fancy now...) -- Your armor. Everything okay there, humongous?"

I will endure.

[He halts for a moment, looking to Yuri.]

I spoke with your friend.... in other circumstances, I might ask for certain explanations from you.

[He pauses, taking a long, painful breath.]

Endure for how long? Take a minute to breathe, man.

[Yuri puts a hand on his hip, red eyes boring into the helmet as he looks upward.]

Dunno what I'd need to explain to you, but if it'll keep ya from making yourself drop dead for a while I guess I can deal with it.

I have been told you can take on the form of monsters.

Explain this.

[W e l l. Yuri's a fair bit less amicable now. Not hostile, merely rude.]

Any reason I gotta?

[He scoffs, going on anyway.]

Thinka it like fighting fire with fire. That work?

That is a dangerous path. One that might dance you very close to the knife-edge of damnation.

I am fond of you.

[The implication there is clear enough. Garviel doesn't like fighting people he is fond of.]

Everything in life's risky, big guy. Only difference is what you can lose. Trust me, I know the shitty deal I'm stuck with.

[He's moved back from rudeness to nonchalance.]

The loss of a man's soul is significantly more important than the loss of his life. Because he might betray his friends before perdition.

[Wryly.]

You'd be surprised what you can punch outta someone. Or, uh, back into 'em I guess.

[A vivid mental picture is painted in Yuri's subconscious.

He's... he's pretty sure you could punch someone's entire intact skeleton out of their backside, Garviel.

He thinks that's pretty cool, apparently, and starts chuckling.]

'tween you and her, sounds like I got things covered if I bite off more'n I can chew again, then.

I imagine we do. I would ask you not to dance too close to the edge though. It would be a pity.

Hey. I may not act like the brightest bulb in the box, but I 'aint an idiot. It would take some pretty special circumstances for that.

So, what's with the sudden concern anyway?

I was only now informed of your condition.

[He seems lost in thought for a moment.]

Heh. Never thought of it as a "condition"...

Never woulda thought a guy your size would be a fuss-er, either.
