[ The smell of burnt meat makes Souji nauseous. Brief, horrific images of something so foul, so sinister that the mere thought of the name alone makes the bile creep up to Souji's throat, swallowing uncomfortably. It wasn't the smell of burnt meat that made him quesy; it was the beyond-burning smell. The burned-so-bad-it's-a-charcoal-briquette smell. And Garv is cooking with hotdogs, so there is a fetid lingering sweet undertone to it all.

Souji quickly approaches the house in question, rerouting himself from home to this place. ]

[ It's Garviel. ]

[ He stares for several moments. ]

Ah, please! I must confess I am a rather poor cook under the best of circumstances.

It's no problem. Grilling is actually one of the easiest methods to cook.

[ In his opinion, at least. Nevertheless he scrapes off all of the burnt grilled items and dumps them onto a plate, recentering a nice thick slab of sirloin and a few hamburger patties. ]

You want to balance cooking the meat thoroughly without ruining the taste by overcooking it. It's easier to overcook the meat so adjust for that, and if it's undercooked you can put it back on the grill again. The heat from the briquettes are around medium which is ideal for a cut of meat this thick.

[ He watches the steak for several moments before flipping it to its raw side, along with the patties, and then covers the grill with the lid. ]

You can also cook the meat indirectly, by trapping the heated air inside the grill. This helps cook thicker items like steak.

[ His logic is methodical but he is going through his gut of when to flip and how long to keep the lid on. So he's not being entirely helpful. ]

[Well, mostly he does. He's very determined.]

[ After a few more minutes in guesswork he removes the lid. The steak looks perfect, as does the hamburger patties. He plates the steak and puts the burgers on buns, then hands the plate to Garv. ]
