[ he's only admiring, really, from a distance at first; it reminds him of Suzaku in some way, but Suzaku... well, he was quite hard to match, even by someone of this size and stature, and Lelouch held that in high regard. (so, seeing strength like this- it's refreshing, in its own way, and that's why he watches for a while.)

regardless, halfway in: ]

I would expect to see some flair with a style like that. [ clearly Lelouch is the king of flair. ._. ] It's quite good, really- I haven't seen something like that since I last seen my knight.

[he turns to Lelouch, acknowledging him with a solemn nod.]

"We Luna Wolves are practical and pragmatic in our fighting. We leave the flair to the Emperor's Children and the Blood Angels."

[he also acknowledges the compliment.]

"All Astartes are Knights, of a sort. Was he your champion, then?"

As you've shown well. [ doing a once-over, before nodding. ] Such a waste to leave that to someone else.

[ and now the wording gets him. 'champion'? Suzaku? that boy who thought too much of the people around him and ended up getting his heart broken? hm. ]

Suzaku was my only knight and best friend -- perhaps he is my champion, in his own right... not that he'd admit it. [ the stubborn fool. ]

Are you a knight?

"Of a sort. All Astartes are knights. But for those who use specific terminology, that is primarily reserved for my brothers in the Imperial Fists and the Dark Angels."

[he shrugs, regarding the question of flair.]

"I do not enjoy fighting for the sake of fighting. It must have purpose behind it, thus, I do not play while I am doing so. I fight only as needed to bring an end to the battle."

I see. [ very intriguing. ]

I never assumed that you did; and, I think you misunderstand. When I say flair, I mean passion. Passion isn't play. Perhaps I'm foolish to think so, but even when you find for a purpose shouldn't you be passionate about that purpose?

[ a quiet kind of chuckle. ] You really do remind me of him- may I ask what your name is?

"I have found that being driven by emotion during battle is a two-edged blade. It has brought me both victory and defeat. I am passionate about my purpose, but for now, what I am doing is simply physical maintenance. A warrior must keep his head about him at all times, or he is lost."

[he nods.]

"You may. Garviel Loken."

[he looks to the smaller fellow.]

"And what is your name?"
