all the friends i've ever known are inside singing together, singing merry xmas, here's to many more

Two shows tonight.  One I had to wait to see cos it's British and I'm American so I had to wait for download (i.e. Misfits), and the other I missed when it came on cos I was watching the film Star Trek: Nemesis (and is it sad that I still get upset when Data dies even though I've seen the film countless times?)  Also, how is it that Wharf can recognise Irving Berlin tunes, but can't recognise Gilbert and Sullivan?  Anyway...

I enjoyed the Christmas Special of Misfits a LOT.  For one, Simon/Alisha were an official couple (LOVE them), but I'm kind of disappointed that we don't get to see how it happened.  After all, at the end of the series 2 finale, time reset itself and Alisha had never told Simon about she and future!Simon.  I can tell from conversations they had in the Xmas ep that she shared that information with him at some point in this time line, but we never saw it.  I also was intrigued that they faded out on Simon and Alisha's first time together, but it made sense in the scene after that.  It really didn't go over so well, especially since Simon had only had sex the one time before.  And the poor guy was comparing his performance to that of his future self the entire time.  Poor bb.  And then he went to Nathan for sex advice afterward.  Is it sad that I get SO excited every time Simon and Nathan have a heart-to-heart?  There's a rumour going around that Robert Sheehan has decided to leave the show.  I hope that's a lie cos I ADORE Nathan, even if he is an asshole.  And who'da thunk it?  Nathan actually gave Simon some good advice on what to do in the sack.

POOR CURTIS THOUGH.  I mean, even I got a bit upset.  I was just starting to like Nikki when they killed her off (this time for good).  And all just because she was in the wrong place at the wrong time, and everyone had sold their powers so they had no way to defend her.

Kelly was almost absent this whole ep it felt like.  So I don't really have much to say on her character (sadly).  I must say though that I was miffed to hear that Lauren Socha is taken elocution courses cos she's having problems finding work because the people holding auditions for casting can't understand her thick accent.  I'm not even British and I have absolutely no problem understanding her.  People just need to learn to listen. Her accent is beautiful, and as long as she's not trying to play royalty, I see no problem with her keeping her real one.

And Alisha almost got raped!  Because of her own power (which she sold and the wrong guy happened to buy it).  Speaking of, why is it always the religious people who turned out to be completely barmy on telly shows?  I swear, most of them aren't like that.  Bigoted, yes.  Enjoy power?  Sure.  Maybe. On a moderate level.  Completely psychotic and trying to kill everyone so they can get their money?  Not anywhere near as much as you would expect.  After all, why kill people for stuff when you can just throw sin in their face and guilt them into it?  But man, when Alisha told Simon what had happened and how that guy calling himself Jesus had used her own power on her, and Simon's expression turned the way it did, I just went, "Dude.  He's going to go totally kickass now.  But my poor bb looks so sad!"  And then he was like, "I'm going to kill Jesus," and all I could think was, "I shouldn't cheer at this statement.  But damn...I so want to!"

And they all got powers back at the end, minus dead!Nikki of course.  But, not necessarily the ones they originally had because some were sold and others wanted a switch from what they had been before.  Kudos to the execs on this cos it's a great way to change up the show a little bit without making it seem too far out from left field.  And it explains how future!Simon and Alisha could touch each other without Simon trying to rape her (maybe his new gift is that other people's gifts don't effect him.  Or it could have to do with the differential in time streams).  Great, now that's going to bother me all year until the show comes back.  And here I was going crazy enough, just trying to figure out what new powers they could possibly have.   Damn you, show!

And then there was the Leverage finale.

I must say that I found the placing of eps a bit odd.  I mean, the show went off for three months while it continued filming these last three eps.  Then it comes back last week, and shows the Christmas episode (which was light and had nothing to do with the plot line for the finale.  It was just a regular con job).  And then this week was the series 3 finale, in two parts.

As usual, the show was LOVE.  I mean, I just adore this "family" of con artists.  The sibling relationship of Parker, Eliot, and Hardison just makes me giddy and I'm always smiling.  Parker, with her complete inability to understand how people can't just love money or spend their day trying to break into or out of high security buildings is one of my favourite women in the world.  And Eliot can beat the shit out of anyone, hates using guns (although, as he said to that one bad guy tonight right before he plugged him full of lead, it doesn't mean he can't use them), and well...it's Christian Kane, and he used to star on Angel, and you all know how I feel about Whedonverse alumna.  Plus, he's a SINGER.  (Representin'!)  And Hardison, with his geeky little techno gadgets, and naming his vans.  Plus, he's a big fan of Star Trek, Doctor Who (woohoo!  He's mentioned it at least 4 times in 3 series), and tonight he brought up another thing I love, but I can't remember what it is right now.  My brain is too overloaded with awesome.

THEY STOLE A COUNTRY.  I've seen them steal a lot of interesting things, but stealing a country.  That's a new major even for them.  And they totally beat a guy who thought he had bested them.  And he never even got to know their names.  Eat that, Moreau!  (Played by Goran Visnjic, who despite the fact that I know he starred on ER for years, will always be Jimmy Angelove from Practical Magic to me).

GOD, I love this crew. Bad guys really do make the best good guys.  It just exemplifies why I love con artists so freakin' much.  And thank god we had these three eps this month, cos I need something to die me over until con man Neil Caffrey graces my screen again January.  And then, about the time he leaves again until summer, Peter Bishop will be back on it (even if he no longer cons people.  Which is just a waste of an EXCELLENT plot line, if you ask me).

And, odd as it is, I usually get Parker/Hardison vibes.  Not tonight though.  Tonight, I was being stymied by Parker/Eliot vibes.  Am I the only one seriously freaked out by this?  They're like brother/sister in my head...*shudders*

And Sophie/Nate getting together was totally foreseeable the second that Eliot knocked on Nate's hotel room door to wake him up.  But, I still felt like a child who had walked in her parents naked in the bed together.  Good thing Eliot didn't notice Sophie was in Nate's room.  I think he would have been scarred for life.
