dancing

Been busy lately with work and friends and a trip to NYC which was actually really great for me in a lot of various ways. It renewed my interest in walking around cities again, photography, looking into different styles of music in my genre, and dancing again. Bizarre how a little trip took on all these wonderful attributes. I am already planning several in the future. I think NYC gave me a renewed sense of interest in my community that has had so much bull shit in DC that it left a bad taste in my mouth.

And a cute man named Cliff also added interest as we were talking about his radio station show. I've been listening to that and also looking into different things since we've gotten back. There are a ton of people out there who do different things and have fun with our music and the scene. It doesn't have to be drama crap all the time. And in a way it was interesting to enjoy another interpretation of our scene. I liked some of the club stuff simply because it is different and the music wasn't always interesting to me. Yet it means we keep going and expanding and new people make interesting choices about where our scene should/will go. And that made me happy. DC killed its own public punk scene years ago which just pissed me off. Can you imagine...one of the founding areas? Just poof. And in NYC there was this club where they congregated happily and now I wish I had just gone in...just to experience that feeling again.

I think DC leaves me longing sometimes. I suppose that is why I left it 4 years ago. A new club night opened and I hope it will add to our scene. I may even try to talk to Ras about where he wants it to go because the venue is wonderful and the night is great so we just have to make sure it catches on.

I always threatened I'd open up my own little place of heaven. Maybe I'll just try to help the current scene when I can.

I got to go take a walk. Happy Sunday
