Today's subject is a constant Daoist leitmotiv. A leitmotiv is apparently a melodic passage or phrase (usually seen in Wagnerian opera), or a recurring/dominant theme. According to Dictionary.com. I'm going to go off on a limb here and guess that in this situation, the latter definition is the correct one. I decided to go with this subject because I hate Daoism. I also hate the book Taoism: Growth of a Religion, and it's author, Isabelle Robinet. She uses lots of confusing words when she doesn't need to, and is just generally way too wordy. Actually, I don't really hate Daosim. I more hate the fact that this book is so annoying to read (I still have 63 pages to go in it), and the fact that they spell it "Taosim," as opposed to my preferred spelling, "Daoism." So I decided to take a short break.
Let's recap my weekend thus far! As a further attempt to procrastinate my readings for Daoism class! So Friday was pretty awesome, as you could probably tell, since I had no classes to attend and hung out in Reserve, being paid to sit around and do homework. (As an aside, the tissues I got from Crabtree & Evelyn that were marked down because apparently moose are Christmas-y, smell really good. As an aside to my aside, I hope I don't get a cold but my nose is slightly runny.) After work, I think I wasted time. And then I went to see Juno with Jess, Tyler, and some of Tyler's friends. Such as Kate. Who is awesome. Juno was pretty wonderful, I thoroughly enjoyed it. After Juno, I don't really know what happened. Probably nothing. But my memory isn't working too well nowadays. Yesterday, I forced Jess to get up at 1, we ate food, we went downtown with Greg, Rachael, and the new kid in the house named Matt. We did very important things such as get coffee (or in my case, an iced grande chai tea latte), buy sweatpants (really, it was just Greg), go to American Apparel where we were quite scared of their clothing lines, and bought chocolate/nail polish remover/nail hardener. Okay, the last one was just me. Then Jess and I dropped everyone else off and we went to the mall where we found Aram&Ryan working, and looked in a few different places. Then we went CONTRA DANCING in Montpelier. Rachel Nevitt was calling. We also took Kae and Tony with us. Upon the return home, we met up with Marissa and Ethan and went to Denny's to eat. That ended about 2 am-ish where I promptly crashed because I was really really really tired.
Todayyyy I got up at 10:45 am, took a shower, woke Jess up, ate food, and then went back downtown to meet up with Terra. Who I love. There was another iced grande chai tea latte to be had. I also got more shampoo at Bath&Body Works, and more hand lotion. Because I really needed some. (Actually, I didn't, but my hands were ridiculously dry and I forgot to put some lotion in my bag.) Now I'm at work till 9, and then I'm going home to probably read more Daoism, eat oatmeal because I don't really have any other food, and watch Harry Potter. The fifth one. Sweet.
Such concludes my procrastination entry - it's time to get back to work. Oh, sadness.
