How dare you think I had anything whatsoever to do with this... this mockery!

[Yeah, that's the sounds of a not-very-pleased Vexen.]

[somehow he manages to communicate a very dry tone via text]

I wasn't aware you had found some means to cheat death.

I fail to see how that is any of your concern.

You're right. It merits no concern.

[A long-suffering sort of sigh, and then he answers.]

If you must know, the places is run by individuals collectively referred to as 'the Malnosso'. If you wish to blame someone for the wings, I would urge you to do it properly and lay the blame at their feet.

And you have adequate proof of this.

Hm. Do you know why this has been done?

Why they've seen fit to bring us here or why they've done us the "favor" of these new appendages?

Both. I've read the guide provided by another resident, but I want to hear your opinion of the matter.

The most likely theory is that the wings serve to mark us as being one of the Malnosso's subject; all found within the barrier have them. In addition they seem to be connecting to our continued life, and while I myself have not seen the effects with my own eyes the removal of one of them is greatly detrimental to the health of the individual and the removal of both results in immediate death.

As for why we're here, the theories are far more varied. One's first assumption would be that we are little more than glorified test subjects. However, our captors claim that they are not the ones behind the changes we suffer. Which view is the more correct, I have yet to discover.

What kind of tests are we being subjected to? What is the mortality rate?

The ones that affect the town as a whole are inconveniences at best. However, the Malnosso do have something of a tendency to kidnap individuals at ramdom; the experiments they then inflict are far more harmful than the ones that effect the entire populace. I believe Xaldin was recently taken for the latter, he may have more of an idea of what goes on there than I.

As for the mortality rate, it is all but non-existent. The few deaths that do happen here seem to be caused by the inhabitants and even then death is not as permanent as it would be elsewhere.

I'll speak with him if I need further information.

So if it were to become necessary to remove an individual, they would only return?
