Later that day they end up at Rockefeller Center. Mickie, John, Adam and Victoria are ice skating while Lita and Randy are sitting out the first skate around. Eventually they’ll join their friends but for right now, they’re wandering near to and beneath the famed Christmas tree.
“Are you sure you don’t want to go ice-skating yet?”
“Positive. Especially with Edge and Cena out there,” Randy arched an eyebrow at the redhead. “I don’t trust them.”
Lita rolled her eyes a little, “you wouldn’t trust them under normal circumstances.”
Randy half shrugged but didn’t bother to argue the point. “We aren’t scheduled for anything today, right?”
“Correct. Everything takes place tomorrow,” Lita confirmed and then turned her attention to the ice-skating rink, leaning against a railing. “And since both John and Adam have already asked me, do you want your Christmas presents tomorrow or can you wait?”
“I can wait until Christmas,” the St. Louis native said and moved to stand next to her. “Do you want your presents tomorrow?”
Lita sent him a sidelong glance, “you actually brought yours with you?”
Randy shook his head, “I only brought one of them with me because I could only carry one with me,” and when her hazel eyes grew suspicious, he clarified; “and no, it’s not an engagement ring or even a ring.”
A breath she hadn’t realized she was holding escaped but that didn’t lessen her curiosity by any stretch. “So what is it then?”
He smirked at her and then arched an eyebrow, “do you want it now or tomorrow?”
Lita feigned indifference, gloved hands burrowing into the front pockets of her jacket, “only if you really do have it now.”
“You’ll have to hold out your hand for me,” Randy advised as he reached into a front pocket of his jacket.
“I thought you said it wasn’t a ring…” She remained skeptical though she did as she was advised, her confusion only amplifying when he removed her glove.
Randy opened a slim velvet box, “and it’s not, all right?” He removed a silver charm bracelet with daisy shaped charms of varying sizes, “I’m aware that you don’t wear a lot of jewelry but I thought you might like it.”
Lita eyed the bracelet, a smile forming at the corners of her mouth as she raised her gaze to meet expectant blue. “Thank you, it’s beautiful.”
“Merry Christmas,” he replied, clasping the bracelet around her wrist and then sliding the empty box into one of the front pockets of her jacket.
“Merry Christmas,” she responded, putting her glove back on and then rising on tiptoe to brush her lips briefly against his.
Lita wasn’t entirely surprised when he went to deepen the kiss, the redhead giving in easily. They were in New York City, after all, beneath the largest Christmas tree in the world. If anything, she could just claim there was mistletoe around but at that moment Lita was content to just make the most of the moment.
