They spend Thanksgiving apart though they see each other the weekend after because of house shows; Lita and Randy also booked for an autograph session with Victoria and Edge. Apparently, the board of directors has seen fit to have the WWE Champion and the Intercontinental Champion form a tag team which makes for interesting on-screen interaction between the Women’s Champion and her top contender. The four are also aware that they need to travel together… something that they’ve done already.
But today, Lita is at the airport first, the redhead waiting around at JFK for a flight from St. Louis to arrive.
She’s just about ready to ask if the flight has been delayed when she feels familiar arms around her waist. Lita has never been one for public displays of affection and she’s really not about to start now, either. Instead, she turns in Randy’s arms and returns the embrace. Maybe it’s not quite the reaction he was looking for but he shouldn’t expect any different by now. She’s not going to change who she is for him and the third generation wrester is well aware of that fact.
Once they’re alone, however, it’s a different matter entirely.
But even this time he manages to catch her off guard, lips leaving a fiery trail along her neck. Between kisses, he speaks, practically whispering against her skin. And at first, Lita isn’t certain that she’s heard him correctly. Her lack of reaction, either to his words or his actions, causes him stop. Icy cerulean meeting confused hazel. Tentatively, she licks her lips, because the look in his eyes is making it difficult for her to think straight.
But she needs to know.
“Did you just say you love me?”
“Yes. Why are you so surprised?”
And she shouldn’t be but she is. She’s known for a long time how he felt about her because Randy was never exactly shy where it concerned any aspect of his life.
“I’m not expecting for you to say it back,” he points out needlessly. “Just like I wouldn’t want you to placate me because I know you aren’t like that.”
For once, she’s at a loss for words, the corners of Lita’s lips curving into the slightest of smiles, her fingers running through his short hair before bringing his mouth back to hers for a kiss.
When the time is right, she'll say what she needs to say.
