Tags After leaving the hospital, Amy returned to her home, the redhead digging out a cookbook that Jamie had given her as a housewarming present. All of Jamie’s favorite recipes had been starred, a hint of sorts from her blonde friend, Amy keeping that in mind as she got a shopping list together.
“Why don’t you have any Alex-friendly food in your house?” The brunette in question bemoaned as he opened cabinets in the kitchen. “Seriously, Ames, where are your priorities?”
“Maybe because you have your own apartment to go back to?” Amy returned as she closed the fridge. “Are you staying here or coming with me?”
Alex shut the door to the pantry, “I’ll come with… make sure that you have adequate supplies and real food.”
Amy rolled her eyes, grabbing her keys from Alex’s pocket. “I have real food, you idiot.”
“If you’re a rabbit,” Alex retorted as the two made their way to the front door, “which I’m not, thank you very much.”
“Just shut up and get in the car,” Amy ordered, the redhead giving him an encouraging push.
Alex mimicked her and then muttered under his breath about bossy redheads, the two getting into the car without further incident. And once they had gotten to the grocery store, Amy took one shopping cart while Alex had another; Amy informing him that if he wanted that junk food he had to pay for it himself.
Amy, meanwhile, shopped for the necessary ingredients, the redhead figuring that Jamie probably wasn’t going to be up to cooking for a while. As such, Amy wanted to make a few meals and freeze them for storage.
The redhead also texted Josh to see if he and Jamie needed any groceries for the week, Amy adding that to her own purchases.
“Have you ever thought about having a kid?”
“Yeah,” Amy replied, as she and Alex unloaded groceries, “I’ve thought about it.”
They’d talked about having kids once. And that was when they were both drunk, and on Christmas Eve after Amy and Alex had gotten back from going to church with his family. Truth is that neither Alex nor Amy could remember much of that conversation.
“So would you want to?”
Amy stopped what she was doing; turning so she could look at her on-again/off-again boyfriend. He looked and sounded nervous, not overly so, but enough that she noticed. “I don’t know,” she finally said, quietly. “Would you?”
Alex shrugged a little; their relationship right now really wasn’t conducive for raising a child… at least if they were both going to be involved. And Alex wanted to be involved. “So, what are you making?”
Amy welcomed the shift in conversation with a small sigh of relief, “don’t tell me you’re actually going to help me.”
“I can cook… without making too much of a mess.” And at her disbelieving look, he amended, “most of the time.”
“We’ll see about that… Wolfgang Puck, you are not.”
While the pair playfully argued, Amy bringing up one particular incident that had resulted in Alex nearly chopping his fingers off while dicing vegetables they also got started on the recipes. Amy assigned him solely to using the food processor and prepping casserole dishes, the redhead wanting to avoid any possible disasters.
