Tags Trish returned to her suite to find her two roommates dressed up in costumes, Mickie, a brunette who was majoring in Communications, was in a red jumpsuit with the wording ‘Thing 1’ while Christy, a redhead who was majoring in Human Development with the intentions of becoming a teacher, was in a similar jumpsuit with the wording ‘Thing 2’. The two had been waiting for Trish to come back, a black jumpsuit with a long, curvy tail laid out on her bed along with a set of white gloves, a ridiculously tall red and blue striped top hat and fake cat whiskers.
Angelina and Madison had warned them about the activity, stating that each of the floors in the dorm were participating in the back to school ritual. Their floor, apparently, had been chosen to represent Dr. Seuss.
“All children’s lit,” Mickie explained to the bewildered blonde, “so, we’re obviously Cat in the Hat, Thing 1 and Thing 2… floor above us has Madeline and the floor below us has fairy tales.”
“Great,” Trish quipped, picking up the jumpsuit hesitantly. “Just give me a second to get changed.”
Christy nodded, tossing a blue wig to Mickie, “we got ambushed by Angie and Madi when we got back to the dorm this evening. They told us that we had no choice or they’d trash our room… plus, well, we’re freshmen.”
Trish shrugged as she started to change, “from all of the horror stories that I’ve heard about back to school traditions, this could be a lot worse.”
Mickie nodded her agreement, she and Christy then waiting for Trish to finish getting changed. And no sooner had she done that was there a knock at the door, Madison entering when Mickie opened the door.
“This won’t be painful, I promise,” Madison reassured the three girls, “you three are under mine and Angelina’s protection so if anyone tries to mess with you…. Well, let’s put it this way- they just won’t.”
“How can you guarantee that?” Christy questioned with a hint of skepticism in her voice.
Madison smirked, “just trust me, okay? I’m co-captain of the cheerleading squad and Angelina’s a standout student athlete.”
Trish, Mickie and Christy exchanged a look, the three girls shrugging and then exiting the dorm room after Madison. And sure enough, all of the freshmen students in the dorm were subjected to various costumes. Some from children’s literature while others were from children’s television shows. And maybe it wasn’t too bad, but that didn’t mean that the freshmen were exactly enjoying this.
Still, they supposed it was all in good fun, and the all-floor mixer more than made up for it. Trish tried not to drink too much, partially because she didn’t want to get in trouble in case faculty was around and partially because she didn’t want to wake up with a hangover.
