While Eve and Lita are in the ring, Punk and Evan are standing outside of the ring, watching their respective tag-team partners. Punk has known Lita far longer than Evan, and longer than Eve for that matter. And while Evan doesn’t outright ask for advice, he does at least ask Punk, the younger man making small talk.

“Look, kid, best I can tell you right now is to just watch. Watch her now while she’s in there with Eve and watch her in a minute when she’s in there with me.”

“I get that much but she trusts Eve and she trusts you.”

Punk half shrugged, “and she’ll trust you as well, once she realizes that you’re about as intimidating as a puppy.” And when Evan scoffed, Punk snorted. “It’s true, kid. You’re as menacing as Elmo.”

Evan shook his head, arms crossed, his attention mostly on the two divas in the ring. Honestly, he’d watched plenty of footage, both from recent events and past events; the St. Louis native also speaking with Eve. And it’s not that Evan doesn’t know how to talk to women or that he’s intimidated by Lita but, he supposes, it’s just a matter of unfamiliarity.

Despite having a few mutual friends and being on the same roster since ECW was disbanded, Evan and Lita have barely said much beyond hello to each other.

And now they’re tag-team partners, a specialty that at its foundation, requires trust. They haven’t even sat down to discuss entrance music or a tag-team name, never mind the fact that this is the first time they’ve even set foot in the ring at the same time. Still, Evan isn’t about to give up and he knows that Lita won’t either.

Following Punk’s advice, which isn’t something that Evan will do often, he watches while Lita and Punk are also in the ring. Punk is slightly taller than he is, but Evan can get a general idea.

“You don’t have to be afraid of her,” Eve points out, the Latina diva sitting on the announcers table.

“I’m not afraid of her,” Evan replies immediately. “And I’m not saying she’s afraid of me but she doesn’t trust me.”

“Because she doesn’t know you,” Eve clarifies though it’s probably unnecessary. Evan’s not an idiot by any stretch of the imagination. “Just don’t take it personally if she brushes you off.”

“Kinda hard when she’s supposed to be my tag-team partner and we’re barely communicating.”

There’s a lapse in conversation when Lita decides that she’s going to try that moonsault from the top turnbuckle. Eve is watching just as intently, knowing how nervous Lita looked when she and Punk had arrived to the ring before. And the younger woman isn’t sure if Lita’s just trying to prove to herself that she can still perform the move or if she truly does want to bring the high-flying move back into her repertoire.

Near identical sighs of relief are released when the redhead lands the move with near perfection though that’s also with thanks to Punk for spotting her.

But nowhere is the relief more evident than on Lita’s face, pride and determination lingering in her hazel orbs, an element that she can’t quite name returning to her with that success.
