After they’ve had dinner, they head out for ice-cream, running into Evan while they’re out and prompting Alex to question if this had been planned or if it was just a coincidence. Neither Amy nor Evan will confirm or deny that, but something about the situation seems off. While they’re in line at the ice-cream parlor, Jamie gets distracted, handing Chris to Amy so she can excuse herself. Jamie shoots a meaningful look to Tara, the two heading outside and letting everyone else know that they’ll be right back.

“If that’s who I think it is, he has a lot of nerve,” Tara practically hissed, the two women trying to remain hidden.

“I think I know who he’s with,” Jamie replied, “because that woman looks a lot like my wedding planner.”

Tara and Jamie had their suspicions regarding Punk for the longest time, and his track record was pretty well known as well. The dark haired male not keeping many long relationships and having gained quite the reputation for being unfaithful to his girlfriends. That had been part of the reason why Amy had been reluctant to date Punk in the first place, her feelings for Alex notwithstanding.

Tara had hoped that Punk would at least be different in his relationship with Amy and for the first few weeks, it had seemed that he had turned over a new leaf.

But then he started falling into old patterns, spending less time around Amy while Amy in turn started spending more time with Tara and Evan. Amy also poured a considerable amount of free time into babysitting for Chris, Evan oft accompanying her. Sometimes, Tara wondered if Amy had any feelings for her youngest brother but never brought it up; not wanting to stir the proverbial pot any further than necessary.

Plus, that was Amy’s business and not hers, Tara figuring that if Amy wanted to talk about it, she would bring it up on her own terms.

Right now they had bigger fish to fry, the two women trying to remain as close as possible without getting caught… and also reminding themselves that they couldn’t stray too far without raising too much suspicion from their friends.

“Should we go back yet?”

“No, we need to see if it is him or not… even if we can’t get visual proof by way of taking a picture or something, we need to at least see if it’s him.”

Jamie nodded, the two soon reaching the busy nightclub that they had seen him disappear into. Still, they knew that they couldn’t identify him without heading inside, Tara deciding on another tactic.

“I’m going to call him, can you watch and see if that guy picks up?” And when Jamie nodded, Tara dialed her step-brother’s phone.

Jamie watched intently, but the male made no move to answer, the two women heading back to the ice-cream parlor. No sooner had they left did the male remove his phone from his pocket, checking it and informing his female companion that it was only his step-sister and probably nothing important.
