Running purely on coffee and adrenaline, Amy and Renee worked through the night and into the early hours of the morning to do as much background research as possible; both for their assignment and for the upcoming meetings. Amy gathered what she could from the files that she had been given, putting the information into another file that she was keeping on a flashdrive. That way she wouldn’t have to worry about her laptop getting searched and Renee could also access the information easily.
By the time 5:00 a.m. hit, the two women were ready to shower, have breakfast and be out of the apartment and to the office building by 6:30 as requested.
The two women met up with Hunter and Jay in the lobby, Amy and Jay heading over to the conference room to begin preparations while Hunter and Renee were on their way to the airport. Once all of the necessary folders were in place, Amy went to a local bakery to pick up an assortment of baked goods and then to a café to pick up fresh coffee for the meeting.
By the time everything was set up in the conference room, Hunter and Renee arrived back to the office building with the international clients; Amy greeting them in nearly perfectly accented Spanish.
After Renee and Amy had successfully charmed the clients, they went into the conference room to begin the meeting; Renee holding a regular notepad while Amy was armed with a wireless tablet to record and take notes. Before they knew it, noon had arrived and they were off to lunch with the clients; Amy and Renee continued to hold their undivided interest. Once lunch was over, they were all off to see one of the factories in New Jersey, Amy and Renee making mental notes of any specific landmarks so they could return easily.
When they returned to the office building, Jay went with the clients to their hotel while Hunter remained behind so he could speak with Amy and Renee.
“Great work today,” he told them first, “and I’m giving you both the rest of the day off because you look exhausted.”
Amy shook her head, “I can’t access the company files from the apartment, plus I have to clean up the notes from the meeting.”
Hunter frowned lightly, “normally I would admire your tenacity but I can also see that you’re both tired.” A moment passed before he added, “how about you both work on the meeting notes and then you can go?”
Knowing that Hunter probably wouldn’t relent until they agreed, Renee and Amy accepted the offer quickly, the blonde woman also sending a quick text to Chris to update him as to what was going on. While Amy and Renee were getting their notes sorted out, they also reasoned that it would be in their best interest to head back to their apartment as soon as possible so they could get some much needed sleep.
